It's hard to over-state just how important the BMW 2002 was to both the company that created it and the current state of the automotive industry. Fun to drive small cars were nothing new. but cars like this 1975 2002 (a highly original. low-mileage survivor. by the way) proved that practical cars could also be a hoot. Forget two-seat roadsters with leaky tops. THIS is how you have your cake and eat it. too.


It would be an understatement to report that this car presents well. In fact. finding a 2002 that hasn't A) been beaten to death. or B) rusted from the inside out. or C) modified beyond recognition is getting tough these days. Better still. this one seems to feature original paint and trim. suggesting that it has led a very easy life from Day One. Look how well it fits together. how the doors close with typical Teutonic precision. and that the paint still shines up quite well. No. the shape won't win any beauty contests. but if you're a car guy in the know. you'll recognize it from a mile away and have a little smile. knowing that the guy behind the wheel is probably laughing like a lunatic as he bends the little sedan into the next corner. Don't let its looks fool you. this little Bimmer has the heart of a sports car.


The BMW was an expensive car when it was new. and it carries a very German sense of luxury and style inside. Of course. like many European cars of the era. it's definitely no-nonsense. with firm. supportive bucket seats and a clear. easy-to-read instrument panel that tells you everything you need to know. The seats are upholstered in textured vinyl that is as durable as it is handsome. the carpets remain in excellent shape thanks to a set of floor mats. and the door panels look like nobody told them they were nearly 40 years old. Some faux woodgrained material on the instrument panel warms things up. but you can tell they only threw that in for us Yanks. which is probably true of the automatic gearbox. as well. Nevertheless. the car is sprightly and from the commanding driving position. you'll be able to clip apexes more precisely than Kim Kardashian's plastic surgeon. Crank open the sunroof and go!


With 1990 cc displacement. the gutsy four-cylinder engine over-achieves and delivers a ripping exhaust note that you'll have to hear to understand. The spotless engine bay is completely stock and shows signs of a recent and extensive service after years of careful storage (which explains the low mileage). Note that the block itself is canted at 30 degrees to allow for the low hood line and center of gravity. and it still breathes through its stock carburetor and exhaust system with trademark center tailpipes. The fully independent suspension is both secure and smooth-riding. which is part of this car's magic. and braking is plenty powerful given the car's welterweight class. Even the original steel wheels are wonderfully clean and wear new Toyo performance radials.


There's a reason these cars are legendary. and super-clean original examples like this are eagerly snapped up by knowledgeable enthusiasts. Don't wait. because this one just won't last. Call today!

TERMS OF SALE  

1. Per the eBay User Agreement. by placing a bid you are entering into a legally binding contract and are committed to purchasing the vehicle described above. The details of this commitment are further outlined in the eBay User Agreement.

2. Vehicle may be sold by Streetside Classic Cars prior to the end of the auction. Streetside Classic Cars reserves the right to end its auctions early or to cancel bids solely at its discretion and shall not be held liable for any such cancellation.

3. The winning bidder is required to contact Streetside Classic Cars within 24 hours after the close of the auction to finalize the details of the transaction.

4. A $1. 00 non-refundable deposit is required within 48 hours of the auction's close.   This deposit reserves the vehicle and removes it from the market. Acceptable payment types for deposit are: credit card. wire transfer. cashier's check. and money order.

5. If winning bidder does not contact Streetside Classic Cars and submit deposit within 48 hours of auction close. vehicle may be made available to the next highest bidder or another qualified buyer on a first come. first serve basis.

6. Streetside Classic Cars has represented this vehicle to the best of its ability. Prospective bidders are encouraged to contact us directly to provide additional information or answer any questions.

7. Please be aware that all pre-owned vehicles. regardless of age. mileage. or manufacturer are subject to cosmetic wear and mechanical failure. Streetside Classic Cars encourages bidder to have a personal inspection completed prior to delivery to help ensure your satisfaction. Third party inspections are to take place prior to a vehicles shipment or delivery.

8. All vehicles are sold "AS IS" and with no warranties expressed or implied.

9. Final or winning bid price does not include shipping. tax. title. or registration fees. It is the purchaser's responsibility to provide for any state or local taxes and shipping expenses resulting from the sale.

10. We can assist you in delivery through our network of private and commercial carriers. Most of them can deliver the vehicle to your driveway. We assume no responsibility for damages or delays incurred once a vehicle is in a shipper's custody.

11. Streetside Classic Cars bears no liability and shall be held harmless for any complications. expenses. or damages resulting from a failure to meet these terms as they have been set forth and established herein.

12. An additional documentation fee of $149 will be added to the purchase price at the time of sale.
