Fiat 500 Furgoncino (Van) Classic / LHD / 1973 / 21K Miles / 4 Owners / ASI Passport / Restored -Unique Investment Opportunity @ £14. 95 

We are truly privileged to offer to the market this fully restored & highly desirable  Autobianchi Fiat 120 Z Furgoncino 500. (That's as noted on the log book!) or as commonly know a ‘500 Furgo'. This is a 1973 model being UK tax exempt with the correct suicide doors & is a genuine LHD original factory produced Furgo. not a converted Giardiniera! This lovely example of the baby Fiat commercial vehicle has arrived direct from Italy.

It retains the original 499cc engine. which along with the rest of the mechanicals & wiring received a 2800Euro rebuild 2 years ago. The body work appears original but was fully professionally repainted in 2009/10. It has a recorded mileage of only 20. 05 miles & has only had 4 Italian owners from new.

The current is an elderly Italian gentlemen whom keeps this cherished example as part of his own private collection & is a very keen Fiat 500 Club Italia member & uses this unique vehicle for club shows & events. as you will see from the decals on the windows. It also proudly wears a Fiat 500 Club Italia plaque on the rear tail gate which is engraved with its details!

 

This stunning vehicle is an ASI (Automoto Club Storico Italiano) registered example & comes complete with its ASI passport signed by the ASI president. This means the vehicle has never been modified & is as it left the factory in 1973.

 

It has been tucked away by the owner in his private collection. carefully stored in his dry workshop in the small town of Casabona. Crotone. Southern Italy. We have pictures of it there. prior to it being loaded onto a closed transporter ready for its journey to our shores. where it now has a UK Nova certificate. fresh UK MOT & is ready for the new owner to register. which we can help with or indeed register it ourselves. if required.

 

The vehicle on examination looks very original & wears the chassis number: 294260. The engine. mechanicals & electrics were rebuilt in 2012 at a cost of 2800 Euros by a Fiat specialist & as a result this vehicle drives perfectly without fault & starts on the button.

 

It was professionally painted in 2009/10. including the engine bay. boot area & all internal areas & looks very fresh & pleasing to the eye. The panel fit is excellent. all the floors and panels look factory correct & are all in excellent structural condition. thus this must surely be one of the most honest examples that still exist.

 

The history file that accompanies this vehicle contains: UK NOVA certificate. Fresh current UK MOT. Italian log book. Original Italian Automobile Club D'Italia Certificato Di Proprietra. ASI (Automoto Club Storico Italiano) Membership & signed passport. Italian document holder. Specialist parts invoices. Images of the vehicle in Italy prior to our purchase. Club details & even a Fiat 500 Club Italia key ring with wind up light…

 

Since being in our possession. we have been meticulous in our preparation of this unique vehicle prior to offering it to the market. by undertaking the following works:  Checked & overhauled the brakes. flushed & new fluid. fitted new windscreen wiper blades. window washer pump. full service. £25 premium unleaded fuel. tax disc holder & key ring. The vehicle has also been professionally valeted including the engine bay & machine polished. it presents very well indeed.

 

Period Fiat verde scuro paintwork. with a new full black period interior. including new matching door cards. with a new black full floor covering set & a new loading bay mat set!

 

It certainly appears a genuine example that must surely be one of the most unique in the world. Can you find another for sale? I doubt it. we have been searching for 3 years to find a good genuine example & this is it! As a result when these vehicles ever come to the market the prices achieved are not cheap. there are only 3 in the UK. I am told by a leading Italian authority & this is 1 of them!

‘The widespread use of the 500 Giardiniera for work based activities led Fiat to develop a specific commercial version. which came out from the factory as a small van and could be sold as a cheaper alternative to the 850 or T 128. ll Furgoncino 500 fu commercializzato in parallelo alla seconda serie della Autobianchi Giardiniera. anch'esso con il marchio milanese. The Furgo minivan 500 was marketed in parallel to the Autobianchi Giardiniera. also from the Milanese brand. La carrozzeria era uguale a quella della 500 e la trasformazione in veicolo commerciale avveniva solamente montando una coppia di pannelli di lamiera stampata al posto dei vetri posteriori e un tetto metallico avvitato al posto della capotte in tela. The body was equal to that of a 500 and the transformation into a commercial vehicle occurred by mounting a pair of metal panels. sheet printed in place of the rear windows and a metal roof screwed in place of the canvas one. All'interno. invece del sedile posteriore. veniva montato un elemento in lamiera che rendesse orizzontale l'intero piano di carico. ricavandone al di sotto un ulteriore spazio. accessibile per mezzo di uno sportello. Inside. instead of the rear seat. was mounted a metal deck that would make the entire horizontal load floor. with the motor mounted below. accessible by means of a hinged access door. Per evitare. infine. che la merce potesse spostarsi in avanti contro al guidatore. veniva installata una ringhiera metallica dietro ai sedili per trattenerla. To avoid the goods moving around in transit & striking against the driver. a metal rail was installed behind the seats. Il Furgoncino 500 seguì l'evoluzione dell'Autobianchi Giardiniera. con le modifiche del 1974 e uscì di produzione anch'esso nel 1978. The Furgoncino was a much loved sight on Italian roads & finally went out of production in 1978'.

 

This cheeky chappie is great fun & the best tightest driving 500 variant we have offered without exception. These models are ever increasing in value & a good Furgo is not only a pleasure to drive but a great & unique investment opportunity.  This is naturally reflected in the price that needs to be achieved for the vehicle. 3) Fiat 600D Multipla Taxi. LHD. 1964. the original Italian Taxi & people carrier. this example even has the original taxi sign & meter fitted. with period correct roof rack & period luggage! Finished in black over dark green (The original taxi colours!) with matching green wheels & white walls. Tan piped cream fresh interior. 6 seat taxi configuration. fully restored (structurally amazing). including rebuilt original motor by Italian owner 2 years ago to show standard & used at club events. winning many prizes.
