FOR SALE !! . MGB Gt - 1977. Code Name 'Roxy'
Unfortunatley the time has come to let go of several members of my classic car collection. A busy work schedule and a desire to see the cars driven by a real enthusiast and not standing on display means that 'Roxy'. as she is known requires a new caring. loving and ethusiastic owner.
Im sure I will have forgotten to put something so please ask if you think of something. but 'The Story' so far :
She was the first addition to my collection. purchased back in 2010/11 she then went through over a 6/7 month period a three quarter to full restoration.
Externally:
The original colour of her dress was 'Vamillion Red' with a very sporty stripe (if I can say that. previous owner addition) painted on with white emulsion. hammeright black wheels. various patches of rust and a set of modern MG seats. (you get the picture)
Externally as you can see from the photographs she was stripped back to the bones (not bare metal. full photograph history included with the car). new rear panels and second hand doors added. replacement 'Webasto' folding roof. and then repainted in a 'James Bond' inspired metalic silver/grey taken from a modern day colour pallet.
The 'Webasto' roof is in great order. there are no cracks. tears or stitching issues. The release handle is sometimes 'stiff' but in my experience they all are. especially if you want a water tight fit.
All 'Bright work' is good. and polishes up as it should. As with all classic cars there are some small areas of marked chrome. not necessarily pitted but the age related scratch etc. If I was keeping 'Roxy' then Im sure one afternoon with a polish wheel and some paste would eradicate any marks etc.
You will also notice that she was converted from a rubber bumper model into a chrome bumper model. Although the brackets. nuts and bolts etc were all brand new the bumpers I purchased from a specialist second hand and they are in great condition. In my opinion a much better option than the modern new chrome fittings you can buy. which don't fit exactly. or are made from a cheaper material.  The front bumper has the 'Badge Strip' and a period 'AA' badge fitted. and both front and back bumpers have the original 'overiders' with good rubber inserts and new seals.  The front grille was purchased brand new.
The engine bay remains in the original red. but is clean tidy. new rubber seals. full of chrome extras. new leads. filters and covers etc. and with the external colour she is reminisent of the special edition LE model produced in the late 70's early 80's.   At this point I think its inportant to say that this 1. 8ltr engine is supurb ! Mechanically from the moment I picked this car up from Scotland and drove it all the way back to the North West she has never missed a beat or let me down. Serviced with quality parts and oils I covered approximatley 1500 miles during 2012 in her with several trips to London and the Staffordshire area. each time was a joy. and the 'Overdrive' makes modern motorway driving so much more manageable and adds to the country lane thrill ! (I also own a 1972 Roadster. none overdrive model. so I appreciate more than anyone this little extra and what a difference it makes).
The wheels were all stripped and powder coated (including the spare) and good rubber added all round (some tyres still have the pimples on !!).  As you can see in the pictures the chrome inserts (new) and MG Logo centres (new) were also added.
The original style jack is also in the boot. Brake shoes are all in good to exellent condition. they were new approximatley 2000 miles previous.
All lights work correctly and the wiring checked by an 'auto electrician' during the restoration. Underneath 'Roxy' is solid. no holes. good leaf springs and exhaust etc.
I have added pictures 10. 1 and 12 to show the three paint areas that unfortunately have 'bubbled' (see my note below under the 'more serious' comments).  The rear arch and the headlight area are simply age related. The bonnet bubble is due to a stone chip which happened just weeks after being painted. None of these areas have become severe or changed over the last 12 months.
Internally:
'Roxy' has new black carpets all the way through. with overmats and carpet protecting rubber sections. This includes the rear 'parcel shelf'/'boot' area.
The roof lining is in great condition. being picky I think it may benefit from a little light clean as having the roof back does allow dust to enter the cabin. a little like the areas around a window in a modern day car.
The seats I purchased again from a specialist second hand. They are black leather with the grey piping and in my opinion make this car. I spent at least three days treating and cleaning these when I got them and having driven my roadster across europe with new seats each time I sit in these seats you notice the difference. like an old winchester piece of furniture. they are not perfect and do have the odd blemish and creased section. but the charictor and occasion they bring to each drive is special.  The rear seats are trimmed in the same way and also have the period feel. the odd blemish. but do look great !!
The dash board is covered in the original black trim. the door cards to. (Please note in an attempt to keep this car as close to original and period in most features the door cards do not have speaker holes cut in them nor do they have speakers. they do however have the MGB Sport chrome window winder handles (I have the original black plastic ones if the new owner prefers).
The dash front is covered with a made to measure 'Wood effect' plastic trim. This is common on lots of these cars when restored and in my opinion compliments the wooden steering wheel perfectly (you should be able to see this in pictures 7 and 8). it can be removed if you prefer but  Im sure it will stay no matter who the new owner is. Again you may just be able to see from the pictures but I removed the original 'Rocker switchers' from the centre of the dash and replaced them with a simple wood vinal covered panel and simple 'toggle swithes' and chrome function label/tags. As with all the items I have added to this car the panel can be removed if required and the 'Rocker switches' re added. no wiring issues and if I remember right (not guaranteed) I have the switches to pass on.
The steering wheel is the upgraded wood and chrome 'Jaguar Etype' style. as with the seats this makes each drive an occasion and just adds to the nostalger of driving a classic car.
All switch gear works as it should and the seat belts obviously retract and tighten as expected. The period radio I purchased from the internet and is fantastic. its period in styling. supports AM and FM stations and has a quirky wire that connects into a Phone. Ipod. Radio Aux socket. so music from your own collection can be played where ever you are.  You will see in the pictures I added an earlier modle ash tray to the car. this was to allowed me to store my small ipod inside and out of site. again I have the original style fitting if the new owner prefers.
'Roxy' has only one speaker. (Picture 9) a modern JVC (if I remember correctly) fitted into the 'Map Pocket' in the passanger side foot well. obviously I did this to stop any distruction of the door cards. If I was to keep her then I would be looking to cover the speaker but it does look good as it is.

Please Please Please make an appointment to view her before bidding. I am busy but I am flexible. and in doing so any issues you may have can be discussed prior to you bidding. There is no real excuse for bidding and then revoking afterwards etc.
Now the more serious part. nbsp;
I have set the reserve at what I think is fair based on other vehicles on sale today and reflecting the time. effort and work that has gone into the car. and being honest what I believe she is worth. not just out there but to me to.  If the 'buy it now' is met then I will ensure that the three areas of paint both pictured (Pictures 10. 1 and 12) and noted above are repaired. I have a quote for this already and the cost to me is £200. It may be a job the new owner would prefer to undertake him or herself. if so then we can talk about it and come to an agreement by all means.
If the 'buy it now' is not met then unfortunatly 'Roxy' leaves home as she is. bar the bits that follow below.
The new owner will get a comprehensive picture history and also every invoice that goes with the restoration. On my last count this was in excess of £3. 00.
I have lots and lots of spare parts for MGB's so if there is something needed then I am sure we can come to an agreement. I will add a full 12 months MOT before collection. All oil water and coolant levels will be checked and obviously there will be enough fuel to get you started (not a full tank though !)
There is no Vehicle Tax Included with this sale. On winning the auction I will require a 'none refundable' deposit of £500 to be paid within the first 3 days of the auction closing.  Im sure you are aware of all the 'timewasting' and 'scamming' ebayers out there and understand why I require this.  The deposit (and the balance) can be paid in cash. via Paypal or direct to me using the bank system. but please no time wasting or 'tyre kicking'.
All none payers and time wasters will be reported to E-bay.
If you have low feedback (less than 20) then contact me prior to bidding. I understand we dont all use E-bay so its not imperative to have a high score. but I would prefer you to touch base with me etc.
Any Questions. please just ask. I will do my best to answer all questions promplty and to the best of my knowledge.
