It was always my dream to own one of these wonderful cars and I have thoroughly enjoyed owning this one. It has been mine for the last 10 years but I have decided it is time to move on to something else.  I love the shape of the Series 3 with its flared wheel arches. wider wheels and wider chrome grill. It looks more planted than the earlier cars and in comparison to those earlier cars is still relatively affordable.

My car has a detailed provenance.   It is a genuine right hand drive home market car with matching numbers. It has remained in the North West throughout its life. It is 1 of only 539 2+2 cars delivered in the UK home market in 1972. Its 4 speed manual gearbox makes it extremely rare as most were fitted with 3 speed automatics. I have its Jaguar Heritage certificate.

The first owner kept the car from 1972 to 1986. The second owner had the bodywork completely restored in the early 1990s and I have a photographic record of the process which took about 3 years. Just about every panel was replaced including the bonnet and it was waxoyled throughout. As a result the car is extremely solid and rust-free. The car was changed from white to silver at that time which sets the car off beautifully.

I bought the car in 2004 and so am the car's 3rd owner and have continued to improve it.

I tracked down the car's original owner in Manchester some time after I bought the car and went to meet with him. He was delighted to see the car again and gave me the original Passport to Service book and the original Maintenance and Service Handbook plus a few old photos of the car when he owned it.

I have a thick lever arch file full of receipts going back to 1986 totalling over £32. 00. During the period of my ownership alone. the receipts tot up to over £17. 00. This includes a full engine rebuild by VSE in 2005 because it had too many oil leaks for my liking. Now it is completely leak-free and the engine pulls very hard. It is a staggeringly fast car even by modern car standards. The front suspension was rebuilt at the same time using poly bushes and I rebuilt the Independent Rear Suspension myself in 2011. powder coating it all. As a long term classic car and E-type enthusiast. I have enjoyed working on and improving this car as much as driving it.

The car has the correct tool roll and complete set of correct tools which is a very rare bonus. I pieced the set together myself along with a period jack and mallet.

The interior is excellent with a lovely patina to the original leather. I fitted period inertia reel seatbelts as the static originals were a nuisance.  I have also fitted a modern face off radio and CD with 4 speakers. (Period radios are a step too far for me).

The car is not concourse but it is in my view in excellent condition. The re-chromed bumpers. almost new chrome wire wheels and excellent paint set the car off beautifully.   The engine and engine bay are fresh and clean. There is little to fault the car other than one or two minor stone chips and a small gearbox oil leak.

The car always draws attention whenever I take it out. It surprises me just how few people know what and E-type is. but they always know it looks rather special.

Being a 1972 car it is classed as an historic vehicle and so is eligible for free road tax. Specialist Classic Car cover means fully comprehensive insurance only costs me about £180 per year.

If you have Peter Crespin's book. “The Essential Buyer's Guide” you will find my car featured in it.

If you are interested in buying my car. then you must view it first. I have a hydraulic scissor lift in my garage so you can get underneath the car for a proper examination.  I live in Northwich. Cheshire just 10 minutes from J18 or J19 of the M6.

I am confident that whoever buys my car will be delighted with it.
