In 1928 at Madison Square Garden. Chrysler launched an all new car badged the Chrysler - Plymouth.  At the Garden. Amelia Earhart helped launch the car.  Because it typified  the endurance and strength. the rugged honesty. the enterprise. that determination of achievement and the freedom from old limitations of that Pilgrim  band that were the first Americans. the new car from Chrysler Corporation was to be called Plymouth.  To carry the  theme. Chrysler dealers at introduction of the car dressed as Pilgrims.  Little did Walter P. Chrysler or his corporation realize it at the time. but he was launching "THE CAR THAT WOULD SAVE AN EMPIRE".  There is little doubt that without this inexpensive popular and reliable car. Chrysler could not have survived the GREAT Depression that would soon come.
