This auction is for a stunning. California. rust free MGB roadster. It runs and drive very well is extremely original. straight and tidy. It has been with its current owner for about 10 years now and it is only being sold due to lack of space.  It has always been garaged and well looked after and does not look like ever having been in a serious collision. Underneath the floors are in pristine condition. no jack marks or the slightest indication of rust. In fact there is not a speck of rust I can find anywhere on this car. Currently registered in CA until July 2014. it has a clear title. The car has been driven on a regular basis so it does not suffer from the problems that arise when cars have been sitting for long periods of time. It recently has had. rear brake work. a set of new tires. ( Michelin 185x60) rear shocks. gearbox mounts and some front suspension work and is ready to drive. All areas inside the fenders. front and back. where you expect to find the odd ripple or incorrect hardware are amazingly straight and correct.

This car has been repainted and has a very nice shine to the finish. The panels are straight. the gaps are good. As usual there is a small crack starting by the mirror just on the passenger side (see picture)  and the trunk lid is cracked on the inside where the left hinge mounts. also a common problem.   There is a small scuff mark in the paint at the back  the RF fender and  a couple of minor dents low down  in front of the door. however  they are not very obvious unless the car is up on a hoist. There are also a couple of small chips by the drivers door shut but overall the paint is very good. The doors close well. windows wind up and down easily. they both lock from the inside as well. Someone has made a couple of wooden caps that are well finished and give a nice custom look. The drivers door and trunk can be locked with the key but the passenger door has become disconnected inside the door. There is not a key for the glove box. The glass is in good condition all round. very few windshield chips and no delamination. The chrome is in good condition and the wheels have been refinished nicely.

The interior is original and it looks like new. The sunvisors have been replaced and the door panels are in very nice condition. The dash is in great shape having a dash cap fitted and the convertible top looks to be quite new and the zip out rear window is clear.

The engine starts easily from cold with the correct original style choke modification and pulls smoothly and powerfully. with no unwanted noise or any sign of smoke. There is a small backfire when changing gear. quite common with these cars. It has good oil pressure (50lbs at idle 70lbs at 3000 hot) and the gauge is accurate. There are some oil leaks. no surpise there! It does not overheat as long as the fans are turned on using the switch on the dash. The emission equipment is still fitted and it all looks functional. The 4 speed gearbox is not noisy and all synchros work well allowing smooth shifting. Very occasionally it jumps out of third gear if it is not selected fully. The clutch feels good. no sign of slipping or difficulty engaging gears. The steering is smooth and precise with no play. The brakes feel good. and it pulls up nice and straight without any noise or fuss. The parking brake works well and holds the car even on a steep incline. The suspension feels fine on the road and the rear axle is quiet. Overall the car drives very well.

Electrically almost everything seems to be working. including lights inside and out panel and High/low beams. wipers – both speeds- even the clock goes. that's quite unusual.  The heater fan. windshield washers and hazards do not work.

There is a nice Pioneer radio with a removable face and a couple of upgraded door speakers that give a good sound. The Speedo works the tach does not all other gauges are good.

The wiring does not seem to have been modified or repaired and is extremely original and correct.

To recap this car is a very sharp looking car inside and out that drives very well with no major issues. Due to its lack of rust. straight body and originality it will appreciate well if it is looked after. As  always I would recommend driving this car if at all possible. please call 310 833 1525 for an appointment. Bid with confidence. the car will not disappoint.   I have sold many classic British cars on e-bay with all buyers leaving excellent feedback.
