A Concours Level  CLASSIC AUTOMOBILE

1967 Austin Healey 3000. Mark III. Phase 2

                                                                         (SN #HBJ8L/41290)

Not restored. but preserved. this Austin Healey is a beautifully preserved original car with 33. 00 miles. /u> meticulously maintained and shown.   This classic is a nationally registered GOLD level concours car with the Austin Healey Concours Registry and is one of 553 limited edition cars in the last year of production marked with a Golden Beige Metallic finish (BG19).

The seller. friend of the current owner.  had previously owned and shown the car for 17 years.    The car has been awarded numerous First in Class. including Forest Grove. and Best of Show Concours at Austin Healey events.   All awards. trophies. plaques and certificates stay with the car.

Besides the beautiful appearance. this car drives like a brand new car. a joy to drive.

BODY                           Perfect. all original without a scratch or dent.   The car was repainted in the 70's. as were many of this color due to the lackluster quality of the original paint from the factory.

CHROME                      All original chrome without pitting or rust.     Original Lucas headlamps.

GLASS                         All original windshield with factory marking and very minor pits. side window have slight vertical etches which are historic with all Austin Healeys. but who puts the windows up on a car like this?

ENGINE                        After years of storage. the engine was gone through completely in about 1987 by AutoSport in Seattle and has 4. 00 miles on this re-do and runs like a Swiss watch.   Because of the firing order. Healeys are always in balance.   When warmed up and at idle. you would not know it was running except for the hiss of the HD8 carbs.   This car has speed and power.

TRANSMISSION                        Tight gears. quiet. Electric overdrive in 3rd and 4th gear works perfectly and overdrive relay set correctly.

STEERING                    Recent steering adjustment to reduce play.

BRAKES                       Front disc and rear drum. all correct and working perfectly.

EXHAUST                     All stainless steel with chromed mufflers. exhaust pipes. rear resonators and tail pipes for cruising.   This exhaust system is changed to a BBQ black mild steel for concours judging.   Nothing beats the purr of an Austin Healey exhaust sound and there is a mechanical explanation for the unique harmonic sound of Healeys and Jags of these years.

WHEELS. TIRES                       The wheels are powder-coated in the correct concours color and a breeze to clean.   They never need re-painting like standard painted wheels.   The powder-coated wheels have been accepted in past concours judging.   The tires are correctly sized Michelins in blackwall with about 60% tread.

INTERIOR                     All original Black interior front and back. no scratches or tears in seats or panels. foam cushions still good. slight yellowing of clear plastic beading in a few areas.   Dash wood perfect as original. vinyl upper dash excellent too.   Original hogshead wool carpeting perfectly maintained (quite an accomplishment for a 43 year-old auto carpet with questionable original quality).

TOP. BOOT. TONNEAU             You have never seen a replacement convertible top that fits as well as the originals.   This top is a perfect original that was removed. cleaned and re-applied in 1992.   The rear window was polished and looks clear and new with the original logos.   The boot cover is in great condition and the tonneau cover is almost new with all the original storage bags and factory markings.

TRUNK. TOOLS             Absolutely clean trunk in original Armacord. correct battery. battery holddowns and cover. spare tire bar and strap.   Complete with original tools and toolbag. Shelly jack and owner's manual with inscription inside by Geoff Healey. son of Donald Healey. the creator of Austin Healey.
