For Sale: Fastest Replica Cobra Ever. KMP 259 Kirkham 427 Roadster

This Vehicle was built by Morris Clement. (3 Time SCCA National Championship Driver and Car builder) and features many innovated changes to the original car to assist it in achieving higher speeds in a safe and secure vehicle.

Body: is the original Aluminum body from Kirkham and has a Stainless Steel frame. nbsp;           (washing off any leaking fluids is easy and doesn't remove paint). I modified the front of the car and added a Air Dam and Splitter to allow the front to stay planted on the ground when you get to excessive speeds. These cars have a tendency to want to lift at about 150 mph. The other modification that we made to the body is a dropped foot box for larger and longer leg positions in the cockpit. This allows the driver to sit comfortably and drive the car in a comfortable position. Then we modified the Driver's door to allow 3"inches more room in the left arm area so you can keep your arms inside the car. Of Course we then lowered the Windshield so it's only 7"inches tall and still has a frame around it so it retains its strength. which is Lexan 1/4"inch thick.   Of course we had to cut a hole in the right fender for the Dry Sump Tank Cap which is a Fuel tank cap off the old Mustangs.   The Dry Sump System holds 17 Quarts and that's with the new oil cooler in the front opening. The Roll Bar is 1. 5" Stainless Steel . 120 wall and goes across the passenger compartment to cover the Driver as well as the passenger. It has also been re-enforced in the middle with  additional triangulation of the main hoop as well as one structural tube extending to the frame from the main hoop for chassis rigidity. In addition. KMP259 has a cage of tubing from the main hoop to the front sub-hoop and provides door bars and chassis structural integrity. The Struts from the front sub-hoop to the top of the front suspension mounts are larger tubing to add strength and rigidity to the chassis.    The front brake openings have 2 hoses coming off of the frontal opening to the brake Rotor and Caliper. that's 6" of air cooling the brakes and caliper to less than 1200*degrees on the rotor (Actual Temp was 1100*degrees on the front rotors and 1000*degrees on the rear rotors). and less than 350*degrees on the caliper. as tested at Road America. one of the toughest tracks in the country on Brakes. We Then covered the bottom of the vehicle with a . 120" thick Plate of 6061 T-6 Aluminum to enclose the frame from the front Splitter to the rear in front of the Fuel Cell which is angled at a 7*degree angle to create some down force over the rear end and rear axle at high speeds. This plate adds structural rigidity to the chassis. which will help in making the suspension work better at a later date. One of the last issues was to add a wing to the rear of the vehicle so we could control some of the down force on the rear of the vehicle at high speed tracks. 5*degrees seemed to be the compromise between Down force and Drag.

Brakes: are Wilwood. 13" rotors on the front and 12" rotors on the rear. with Wilwood High performance Calipers. and SS lines both flexible and rigid mounted to the frame.

Drive Train: Kinetics of Detroit Built the 496 Motor with a Shelby Block. Edelbrock Heads. Dominator Carb and Intake. Carrallo Rods. Moldex Crank. Mahala Pistons. and Jessel Valve Train. Titanium Valves

Avaid Dry Sump System with Original Tank and special made Billet oil pan by Stef. and Oil Cooler is largest made by Flluidyne for NASCAR. Controlled oil temp down to 230*degrees.

Power Steering is from HRP with a Steel pump and brackets made to fit front of motor including power steering cooler.

Lakewood Bellhousing with 3"X 5" opening in the bottom to see the clutch area and rear main.

McLeod Dual Competition Clutch and Flywheel. with solid disc. Throw-out bearing is New style Tilton.

Exhaust is a Coast Fabrication Stainless Steel Mufflers and tubes. Headers are made by the original person that made the Shelby Cobra Headers.

Liberty Tremec TKO 600 Transmission with all internal modification. includng an external pump and cooler that maintains a temperature down to 200*degrees. Shifts excellent at high speeds.

Drive shaft is made with a Mark Williams Billet Transmission Yoke and the larger 1350 series  U-joints. which is much safer then the original 1330 series u-joints.

Two each Kirkham Dana 44 Rear Ends. each have a Quaiffe Differential and Richmond Ring and Pinions with a 4:10 ratio installed in the car and a 3:54 ratio in a wooden case ready to go. The rear end is attached to a rear-end pump and a fan/cooler for the rear end to get the rear-end temperature down to 220*degrees. The vent modification prevents oil leakage on high speed tracks.

Wheels:  BBS  Center Lock 3 piece wheels 18" X 10" front and 18" X 12" rear. specially made for KMP259. 8 each

Center Lock: 8 each Stainless Steel Center Lock mounting Nuts

Center Lock: 4 each Travel Stainless Steel Center Lock Mounting Nuts with loops for straps.

Tires:  Hoosier 4 each A8 compounds.

Suspension: Front is Steel Lower Control arms and aluminum upper control arms with adjustable Heims for easy adjustment without removal of the control arm.   NASCAR Front Sway bars are especially made by Speedway just for this car. 3 each front sway bars. 1". 1. 125".

1. 250" for various track conditions. The front stuck to the track so good we had to add power steering. it's a specially made rack from Appleton Rack and Pinion and built into the front of the car with a lot of Caster and Ackerman to help the car down the straight away and around the corners. Bump Steer is less than . 005"inch per inch of travel.

Shocks: Penske Double Adjustable with reservoir and re-valved to GT-1 spec's. both front and rear

Suspension: Rear has special heavy duty rear control arms made by Kirkham for KMP259. they are much thicker and robust to handle the power on the race track. Rear Control arms are set to allow bump steer in the rear and it worked best at . 002"inch per inch of travel. that way when we set the Toe-In in the rear it stayed where we wanted it and was very predictable in Hard braking. A rear Sway bar that is . 750" was added to help settle down the rear end.

Rear uprights are forged Aluminum and maintain an excellent rear suspension geometry.

Fuel Cell:  A Fuel Safe fuel cell is installed with compartmental fuel cavity's. In tank pumps move the fuel from the rear of the fuel cell to the frontal compartment of the cell so the main fuel pumps can pick up the fuel and move it forward.   -8 lines are on the supply side and a return line is -6 to the fuel cell. Also. in addition to the 2 in-tank pumps there is a fuel cell gauge to tell how much fuel is in the container. This is a special fuel cell built for KMP259.

Every nut and bolt has been thought out and fitted to KMP259

This is the real Deal and has been sorted out at Road America. Autobahn. and St Louis International race tracks and proved its capablities at various meets.

On top of all of this performance . it is allowed on the street and has a license plate at the present time.

This is one nice and safe and comfortable car that can be used on the street as well as the track.

This is a quick over view. and there are many more innovative ideas within KMP259.
