1947 Chevrolet 3600 stepside pickup

This listing is for my 1947 Chevy 3600 lwb pickup. This is the first year for the new "Advance Design" series which ran from 1947 to mid 1955. This was a very well optioned pickup for the time coming with a radio(see dash pic) arm rests with ashtrays hidden in them. heater. headliner. all of which are still intact!

Engine is a 235 (we assume) as it looks different to the old 216 I have lying around. It has the 4 speed floor shift manual gearbox and open drive. being a heavier 3/4 ton version with 8 lug axles. I imported it as a non runner. but with a new coil. plugs and condenser. it now runs pretty well. It drives around the yard too. so clutch is good. Brakes were not working. but with a bit of bleeding. they do work now and the handbrake also works. I have not pulled the hubs though. so a check of brake and wheel bearing components will be required before hitting the road. It has been off the road for many years. hence selling as an ongoing project that you will have on the road in no time at all. Water pump is leaking. Carb has just had a rebuild and is working well.

Electrics wise. well it has no battery but I stuck a 12v one on to start it. just ran a wire to the coil as the ignition key is missing so it needs a new switch and key. It does have an alternator fitted but going by how bright the lights are. I assume it has not had a full 12v conversion so all bulbs will need changed. Most of the lights and indicators work. horn is trying but just making a squeaking noise. and the vaccuum wipers were trying but the hose is perished. Radio lights up but tuner knob doesn't do anything. However it is so rare and is a lovely thing to have in that dash. Heater motor isn't working. probably just needing a wire connected. but heater matrix is holding water.

Glass is mostly good. the driver side windscreen is cracked as is the passenger door glass. Both windows wind up and down as they should and both doors open and close and latch properly. Seat cover is actually quite good and probably just needs stitching back together along the top edge. as it's the stitching that's burst and not the cover itself. In the pics. it only has a driver rear view mirror and passenger side just a loose stalk. That's now been fixed and passenger side mirror is now mounted properly.

Rust wise. I see a small hole on the cowl top just in front of the windscreen and a couple of weak spots inside at the lower edge where the kick panel meets the floor. No big holes and nothign to worry about for now. just fill up the hole in the cowl top to stop water getting in.

Tyres are ancient and would need changed.

I've priced this as keenly as I can. so no offers please. no part ex and no swaps. just money. Payment can be by cash on collection or a bank transfer or cheque. I can arrange delivery no problem at good rates from a reputable car carrier. e. g. Essex for about £300. If you want it delivered I will have to put a battery. some fuel and a new ignition switch on it for the carrier. so £100 extra would be needed to cover that. If you want to collect it yourself. I will assist in loading.

Truck will come with full UK registration and V5C.
