Jaguar XK140 RoadsterC Type cylinder head. 1955.
We are a small family business and have been trading locally for the last 44 years. All our vehicles come direct from main dealers in part exchange for new models and are subsequently all fully HPI checked. We have been known to turn around upto 800 cars. light commercials and classic cars in a year. and here is such an example.
Wow. not sure where to start with this one. it is simply stunning. It is finished in a super colour combination of British racing green with Suede green leather interior and a dark green mohair roof.
It has had a full body off nut and bolt rebuild approx 12 years ago and has had little use since.
We have a heritage certificate stating that it was originally exported to America and was sold new by a dealer called Hoffman in California. Date of manufacture was 31/01/1955. It also clearly shows that it is in its original BRG with green trim.
The car has had no expense spared as is quite obvious when you look at the condition overall.
Starting from the chassis up one can clearly see that everything has been restored or renewed.
Here is a brief but honest description:-
The bodywork is exceptionally clean. straight and tidy. Being a dark colour usually shows up all the nasty imperfections and considering this was restored some time ago it really is in outstanding condition. there are no sink marks. no ripples and it has a really deep shine. The paint is actually cellulose finish and we do have some of the paint just in case. The back end of the car is all new. the bonnet. boot lid. doors. bulk head. and a large proportion of the front wings are all original. All of the chrome has been replaced or replated.
The leather interior again is excellent. infact it really looks like it has just been retrimmed and refitted. The hood which is stowed behind the seats is made of green mohair and does not look like it has been used. Period 4 spoke wood rim steering is not original but this is what the customer asked for. All of its instruments are present and correct.
Mechanically again everything has been overhauled or replaced. The engine is fitted with a rare C type cylinder head and has new pistons. chains etc. it has also had a new clutch fitted. all of the suspension. steering and brakes have all had the same treatment. New stainless exhaust system together with new manifolds. new radiator complete with Kenlowe fan for modern driving. All of the wiring has been replaced from front to back. All of the anciliaries have been restored. It does have a modern high torque starter motor fitted which I think is a great mod. Fuel system overhauled together with a new petrol tank.
All five 16in wire wheels are new and these are fitted with the correct Avon turbospeed crossply tyres.
Fitted also with period spot/fog lights. and a period boot lid mounted luggage rack.
I think that covers everything. If I have missed anything. you can email or preferably contact Roger on 07774564465. or John on 07836647244. alternatively you are welcome to come and view the car before the end of the auction. it is located in Bromley. Kent.
Please do not ask how much to buy it now. just put your best bid in and we strongly advise you do not leave it until the last minute and then miss out as so often happens.
Now for the important bit. I would respectfully ask that people follow ebay rules. that is to say please have the curtousy to only bid if you are in a position to fulfill the contract which you are entering once you have placed an auction bid. If there is someone who is lucky enough to win this car please be aware that all funds are to clear fully before the car is released.
We do reserve the right to end the auction early.
To sum up. what a fantastic opportunity to own this wonderfully restored piece of british motoring history. It has had quite simply a superb restoration and really wants for nothing. These cars are now becoming rarer and prices are still creeping upwards. What better time to invest some money with interest rates so low at the moment. this must surely be an excellent investment opportunity with all the time and hard work done.
Please no dreamers or time wasters.
Please read my feedback and bid with total confidence.
Finally all I would like to add is good luck and thanks for looking.
