The Jaguar Mk2 replaced the MK1 in 1959. The 3. 8 litre version with 220bhp has always been the most sought after and was the fastest saloon car when it was launched with 125mph top speed.

This car is a 1962 automatic 3. 8 MK2 in its original colour of Opalescent Bronze metallic. It is a UK. matching numbers car with four owners from new and its original registration number. The mileage reading is 39k but the speedometer failed in 1971 and was replaced at 36k making the total mileage just 75k.

We sold this car three years ago after we had given it a thorough re-commissioning and a bare metal re-paint (pictures available) and have just bought it back as a bereavement sale. The body and underside are superb and very original with excellent panel gaps and no signs of any major repairs or welding which is very unusual for a MK2. The interior has new carpets and some of the wood has been re-polished although the leather is serviceable but not perfect.

Within the last 5. 00 miles. this MK2 has been treated to a VSE engine rebuild to unleaded spec and an auto-box re-build by a specialist. It has also had many other replacements in the last few years including a stainless exhaust. brake overhaul and reconditioned radiator. We have just carried out an engine service and fitted a new battery and coil. On the road. this is well-sorted car that drives beautifully.
