My van is “almost there”.  

I bought a really nice. really solid 1983 van in black as the basis of my conversion. It was the nicest. most genuine. original. solid. unspoiled van I could find after spending a long time looking!!!

It has a 305ci (5L V8). with the 700R4 trans (has overdrive. better mpg on a run).

I have fitted:

New rear air shocks (pump them up like a tyre) to give it that fierce stanceNew rear leaf springs (5+1 leaves. rather than the stock 3 or 4 leaf). much higher and better ride (it was quite saggy. a lot of them sag!)New rear fog light (to pass our MOT)Underneath was covered in under seal whilst it was up on ramps getting the springs done. they said it was rock solid anyway!New front brake callipers. brake fluid. master cylinder – so now it stops pretty good for an 83 van!Full service. plugs. oil. filters. trans oil. flushed rad. etcTriple air horns.  
The van starts. stops. drives just as it should.

Then I fitted the A-Team correct style wheels with white letter “Hurricane” tyres from Northants tyres. I fitted the Norcal style roof spoiler I had a made up and powder coated. but the powder coating was a pretty lame job and is now pealing off. needs custom bullbar repainting. It is the chunkiest bulbar you'll ever see and all the other van owners are very envious!We then fitted the fender flares and front lower spoiler. I have the roof/screen visor painted and ready to fit. and the lights for the roof too. I just haven't quite got to doing it yet.
The roof is painted the correct colour. its just the portion above the stripe and below the roof that needs colour changing from black to grey.  There is however a few rust blisters popping up around windows etc and unless its sorted its only going to get worse isn't it?  If I were buying this van. I'd plan on having the rust around the windows dealt with. and painted.  
The interior is great. proper old day van style but in great condition. and all grey. Thick carpet. big captains chairs etc. Blacked out windows. which may not be accurate. but if you're going to put people in the back. they don't want the claustrophobic feeling of no windows! If you want 100% accuracy. you'd weld them up. or search for a needle in a haystack. a panel van.
