1986 AM General M944A1 6X6 5 ton Chassis. model SEORTM - Organizational maintenance truck mounted shop equipment . Truck is powered by a Cummins model NHC-250 diesel engine driven through a 5 speed allison automatic transmission with two speed transfer case. Gauges show 01037. miles and 0163 hours. Item consists of a mobile shop. with folding sides that can be opened one side at a time (hydraulic) and a rear opening type body mounted on a chassis with an EMCO MAIER Co South Bend 1308 lathe with misc attachments and chucks. Electrical power is provided by an installed generator (30kw) single and 3 phase power operated by the vehicle's power take off. only 39 hours ! Has air compressor. sliding boom with pulley that extends out the back. 60k btu heater in the rear fires by the trucks diesel. has press and attachments. mics cables. tool box. aluminum latter. etc. All tires are 90% +. New Paint !! Clean and dry undercarriage. THIS COST TAXPAYERS 155K NEW !!! Starts right up and runs great !! 60mph tops. These are rare trucks.


One of the missions of the M944 chassis was to carry a shop shelter with nomenclature Shop Equipment. Organizational Repair. Truck Mounted (SEORTM). The SEORTM is referred to as "Bat Wing" because of its appearance when the side panels are opened. SEORTM is a self-contained machine shop. with lathe. other metal working tools. all powered by a generator driven by a shaft from the M944 PTO.


This truck was just serviced. Changed oil. filter. trans filter. fuel filter. thermostat. cooling system flush. heater core replaced. Checked and toped off diffs and transfer case.


I have powered up the shop and run the lights and air compressor. I have not run the lathe. The government drains the fluids before sale. Not many tools in the drawers. There are alot of attachments for the press and some attachments for the lathe. There is lots of storage and even some overhead. the troops used to sleep in the overhead bins !! Great bugout or prepper vehicle !!


This is a 1986 model truck with just over 1000 miles in its lifetime. I have not driven it very far. It is sold as-is no warranty. Please ask questions and be prepared if your planning on driving it home !!
