This is a 1968 Manx style dune buggy that is fresh out of long term storage. It has 33000 original miles and has had one owner. It is all original and runs and drives good. She said she never drove it off the pavement.  It wears its original lime green/gold metal flake gel coat. The fiberglass is in excellent condition and has no crack or breaks. The original Appliance wheels are still wrapped in vintage Good Year bias ply's that are probably older than you are. It has a chrome steering column with an original Superior 5 hole gold metal flake wheel. Early mustang seats are original to the car but the  previous owners husband had the interior re-upholstered to match the original  in 2004 as a gift. The original top is still on the car and is in fantastic shape. The car has a tonneau cover and landau cover made from the same gold metal flake material as the rest of the interior. The original windshield glass is still in the car and is in great shape. Dash and gauges are in great shape.

I picked this up from the original owner. Her Dad build it for her 14th birthday in 1968 using a brand new kit. She picked out the groovy lime green with gold metal flake color herself. Her dad installed early mustang seats and a '68 Charger gas filler. The kit I believe is a KC Clipper from what I can tell. He ordered all the options to include the chrome bumpers. chrome show bar. and chrome windshield frame. He even installed the gas heater under the dash.   She drove the car through high school and then to college. Her 1976/77 school year student parking stickers are still on the windshield from Kansas State.  She got married and the car went in storage. It was brought out of storage in 2004 and had some minor maintenance done and was then put back in storage. Her husband kept the car registered and insured all this time but she said it was in a storage unit most of its life.

Engine/trans

1600cc runs good. Has new carb and tune. Original Weiand belt cover. Has an oil leak that will need to be figured out before the car can be driven regularly. Trans is original VW 4spd and shifts good. Clutch is good with lots of pedal.

Interior

Super Nice condition. Seats are early mustang and are original to the car from when it was build in '68. Upholstery was re-done in 2004. The seats are comfortable and the driving position is nice. I am 6' and fit pretty good. Seats fold forward like they should. drivers seat is adjustable. and there are seatbelts. Steering wheel is original to the car and is a Superior gold metal flake. Original owners husband almost replaced this wheel because it has some typical pitting in the chrome. Glad he didn't find the time! Gas heater is disconnected so I don't know if it works.

Top/covers

The original top is still on the car. It is in incredible condition for a soft top that old. No rips or tears. not discolored. not dry rotted. Plastic window is intact and still pliable. Snaps are all in place and in good shape. I did not install the top for the photos because it is colder than hell here and the top has shrunk. It will need to be heated up in the sun for a while to stretch it back out. It is still functional and looks good. unfortunately the side curtains have been lost.

The tonneau cover only snaps in the back if the top is completely removed from the car. See photos.

Tires/wheels

Tires are vintage Good Year Bias Plys. They are in good shape and look cool. but I would not recommend driving on them as they have not been on the road in years. Wheels are wide 5 vintage Appliance wheels with original center caps. 14" up front and 15" out back.

Dash/gauges/electrical

Dash is nice. not broken. Speedo and fuel gauge work like they should. Original AM radio works great. All Lights. turn signals. brake lights. dash lights. nbsp;horn. gauges. wipers are in original working condition. The wiper blades came with the car but were not installed. Need the knurled mount for one side.

Suspension/Pan/Brakes

Pan Looks great. Suspension works as it should. New ball joints were installed in 2004 and have less than 100 miles on them. Brakes work good and car stops good.

Over all a very nice survivor. Some of the chrome has some very minor pitting as it was not good quality to begin with. The car is what you would expect for 33000 original miles. In my opinion it is very nice. Gets lots of thumbs up when I drive it around the neighborhood. The metal flake looks better in person than in the pics. Link below is to 60 or so pics of the car.
