Seller's notes: "The body and paint are original (no accidents), and there is only one small door bang, about the size of a dime near the rear wheel well. Paint is in good overall condition. There are a couple of small cracks on the dashboard. The manual convertible top functions perfectly. Transmission was rebuild approximately 5K miles ago, and engine rebuild/reseal approx. 12K miles ago. The gears sometimes grind in a 5-4 downshift, but 5-3 works better anyway."

1984 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet

White with black top. black interior (white gauges). and black whale tale – a real looker!

You are probably familiar with this story: the family is expanding. so it is time to find a new home for the beloved Porsche.   My loss could be your gain!

This Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet has been meticulously kept and maintained.   I am the third owner.   The first owner (from New York and then Florida) sold it to his employee after about 20 years when he upgraded to a 911 Turbo.   Its second owner (in Florida) had it for about seven years; I have had it for over three years in Colorado.   I did tons of research and asked tons of questions before deciding on this car.   All of the typical issues that an '84 911 Carrera might experience have been addressed on this car. making it stand out as a reliable driver.   I also have quite a few books that go along with this car. and will make your ownership experience more informed and enjoyable. so I'll gladly include them.

Over the years. it has had many parts rebuilt or replaced.   I have all my records. as well as original receipts and documentation.   The second owner described is as “about 80% restored. ”  I have since made some mechanical improvements. along with a couple of cosmetic ones.   I have maintained it at Storz Garage. a specialty shop for vintage Porsches in Denver.   It is not a flawless car. but is a highly capable driver that looks great. drives great. and receives tons of compliments. Following is a concise list of the major improvements. including approximate timeframes:

1st owner (1st 20 years):

·      added black whale tale

2nd owner (3-10 years ago):

·      new convertible top

·      rebuilt/resealed engine

·      new H4 headlights

·      993 side view mirrors installed

·      964 or 993 wheels

·      front seats reupholstered

·      Dino steering wheel

3rd owner (last 3 years):

·      replaced all 6 fuel injectors

·      rebuilt 5-speed transmission

·      new brake rotors

·      new starter. O2 sensor

·      added CD player w/ iPod/USB connection

·      new oil lines. door pockets. trim pieces

·      adjustable cabin windscreen added for open-top cruising

·      new Michelin tires

·      new battery

·      new K&N air filter

Transmission was rebuilt about 5000 miles ago. and engine rebuild/reseal was about 12K ago.   With approximately 145K overall miles and fresh rebuilds/reseals. this car will just keep going and going. much like most 911s…

Always garaged.   This car hasn't seen the snow in at least 10 years other than a surprise dusting.   It is definitely capable of being a daily driver. though.   When my other car has needed lengthy repairs. the Porsche has stepped right in as a reliable daily driver.   I usually drive it to work at least once a week just to make sure that everything is getting the workout that it deserves (and to have a little more fun during the commute. of course).   Oil changed religiously throughout its life.

The body and paint are original (no accidents). and there is only one small door bang. about the size of a dime near the rear wheel well.   Paint is in good overall condition.   There are a couple of small cracks on the dashboard.   The manual convertible top functions perfectly. and I would be glad to show you how to lower or raise it.

This Porsche has electric windows. fog lights. and (strong) power disc brakes all around. but other than that. is about as manual as you can get – and I love that about it.

I absolutely love this car. and need to see it go to a good home.   Please let me know if that might be with you.   It's not the fastest car in the world. but its handling – and overall driving experience – is unequaled.   I should probably mention that in 1984. this was also the fastest production convertible on the planet.

Serious inquiries only.   No joyrides – I will accompany every test driver.   Thanks for looking. and for possibly providing the excellent home that this car so deserves.

Two minor notes re: condition: 1) The handle that folds the driver seat forward snapped off. The seat still folds - I usually just stick the handle up against it and slide it forward. 2) The driver door handle isn't original. so there are two keys. I have the original handle and lock in case you want to match the core to the passenger side.
