IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR CLEAN. LOW MILEAGE ROVER SD1. WITH AN AMAZING SERVICE HISTORY ( A4 FILE FILLED WITH INVOICES AND A SERVICE BOOK OVERFLOWING WITH STAMPS!!) THEN THIS LITTLE BEAUTY IS A "MUST SEE!"
Finished in the ever popular and stunning. Moonraker Blue metallic with matching crushed velvet interior trim. this gorgeous example of the Rover SD1 has lived a charmed and pampered life.
This eyecatching car was first registered in May 1985 as a dealer demonstrator and then sold to a Rover enthusiast who kept his "Pride and Joy" FOR OVER 27 YEARS !!Despite the amazing low mileage of 54. 99 miles this car has been treated to a service history and pampering that one can only dream of. We don't use the phrase "No expense spared" very often. but this car has been cared for in an almost obsessive manner from new. The service booklet is bulging with service stamps and we have every service invoice and old MOT in a large A4 file !! ( make yourself a cup of coffee and sit down and relax for a couple of hours while you go through this "novel" of a service history. )I dread to think what the total expenditure has been. but rest assured. this car has been well looked after !
The service history record is as follows:
DATE      MILEAGE1985           10981986         113081988         197461989         233441990         295271991         332441992         396161993         418021994         431551995         451001996         457141997         467641998         486111999         504012000         512612001         516012002         519082003         522132004         524542006         531002007         535502008         538732009         540572010         541302011         54211
The car has now done 54. 99 miles !!!
Looking at the service history above. it seems that the owner retired in the mid 1990's but even though the SD1 was pottering around. it was still religiously serviced.
EXTERIOR:
The Moonraker Blue paintwork has an all over lustrous shine. the chrome bumper inserts and window surrounds retain there almost new look. The glass. bumpers. alloys and tyres are all in excellent condition. The car has had minor paint rectification works over the years to keep it in the remarkable condition it is in today ( so no scabby wings and door bottoms. no rusty roof panel around the sunroof. in fact this area looks amazingly good. no rotten sills. no rusty scabs on the bonnet. Overall a cracking example that would proudly sit in a Rover SD1 owners club line up and be one of the best on show. )The car is not concourse. ( with a very small amount of time and effort. it won't be far off). But I have seen a lot of Rover SD1 models for sale and. for an almost 30 year old SD1. this is by far the best one and the lowest mileage one I have seen. It took me less than 2 minutes to decide to buy it !!!
INTERIOR:
The blue crushed velvet seats show very little sign of wear at all. No sagging seat bases and baggy upholstery here ! The carpets and door cards are in truly exceptional condition. So to is the dashboard. which is free from sun damage. screw holes and any cracking. Even the steering wheel retains its original blue leather colouring. The only issue inside this fresh cabin is the standard "sagging" of the headliner. I have seen much worse. but an easy fix if you so wish. The small plastic selector strip on the gear selector is missing. but looks like a few pence to sort out.
ON THE ROAD:
As soon as you turn the key. the lovely sound of the straight six engine bursts into life. The car pulls away briskly and reaches cruising speed without much effort and pulls to a stop in a straight line. A lovely drive from this iconic 1980's " Chairman's Choice" luxury car.
DOCUMENTATION:
We have on file. the service booklet. filled with stamps. Every service invoice. every old MOT certificate and an amount of supplementary repair invoices. We also have the original ( and now very rare) owners handbook and supercover documents.  The car is HPI clear and comes with a supporting certificate. We also have 3 keys on leather Rover keyfob.
She is taxed and MOT tested and ready to drive away and be proudly shown on the forthcoming Classic Car circuit.
IN OUR OPINION
Here we have a truly genuine. low mileage and well cared for Rover SD1. Not to be confused with the restoration projects that come up for sale every now and again. If you are looking for a "turn the key" classic. that can be enjoyed immediately. then this car is a "must see". Imagine your glow of pride when you show people around it. and then show them the service history file !!! The invoice costs are almost worth the asking price alone !!Rover SD1 examples in this kind of condition are becoming increasingly difficult to find and are going up in value by the day!
OK it is not a Vitesse. but the condition. mileage and history file make this car a shrewd buy.

Hello. I have only had 2 cars in 35 years. A Morris Minor (1987-2002) and a Volvo 240 (2002- now). I've spent a lot of money on the Volvo and love it. However, I absolutely adore Rover SD1s, despite the poor build quality etc. I assume that you are in Blackburn - Lancashire? So getting to look at the car - with the hope of purchasing - may be difficult for me - train, taxis etc Given that all the things which will inevitably need done to the car, I would not pay more than £3500 at most. This may be unacceptable to you. However, a decent Rover SD1 in Moonraker Blue is always something which I thought would be nice. Could you possibly send me a photo of the dashboard. Clearly that is a major problem, from a "warping" point of view" and Rimmers don't seem to have any replacements. Regards, Gordon
