Sad sale of our much loved 1972 MGB Chrome Bumper Roadster.
Tax until September and MOT'd until October. Runs and drives fantastically. Has done just over 51k miles and we believe this is genuine mileage which is incredibly low for a car of its age!

We bought this MG last year with a view to keep it but unfortunately I have two classic minis and have been given an opportunity for another that I cannot pass up so sadly this needs to go. The car had previously been stored in a very dry garage for about 22 years with another MGB! The guy who owned them before was clearly an MG enthusiast and they had been well looked after.

It is very original and the car is incredibly solid underneath. sills and on the floors. It doesn't look like it has had much work in the past nor will it need any welding any time soon. I've had two different MGB enthusiasts tell me it is one of the most solid underneath they have seen! Since we have owned it. it has been Waxoyl'd to make sure it is protected!
The rest of the body rust wise looks excellent as well. there is a little bit of bubbling on the rear wing but doesn't look bad. just needs rubbing down and sorting out.
The doors are the only bit that is not as good. they aren't terrible and look fine on the outer skin but underneath is rusty and would benefit from changing.

Although the body is excellent rust wise. the paintwork looks much better in the pictures than it is! It looks good from a distance but up close you can see there is a fair few dents. chips and scratches from age and storage. The worst of this is the bonnet(see pictures) which probably needs to be replaced as although its not rusty it has lots and lots of little dents. Ideally. it could do with being resprayed to make the car perfect as this is the only thing really letting it down along with the rear bumper which is pitted and scratched so would need to be re-chromed or replaced. The front one is very good chrome wise. Also the fuel gauge is a bit temperamental and probably needs a new sending unit and also the temperature gauge doesn't seem to work.

We have spent thousands on this car since we have had it. It has had (all new):

Water pump
Silicone hose set
New air filters
Oil filter and oil change (with Slick50 and K&N oil filter)
Spark plugs. points. rotar arm and condenser
Water thermostat
Fuel pump
Clutch slave and master cylinder
Fuel pipes to the carb and filter
Fan belt
Brake pads
Rocker box gasket
Rear brake slave cylinders
Seat foams and webbing
Complete carpet set and rubber mats
New hood (this cost £400 on its own! Unfortunately there is a small tear that has happened recently in the hood. it doesn't leak but it is unfortunately there)
Door cappings
2 new batteries
Ignition coil (made by pertronix)
Wiper arms and wiper blades

We have also had the front brake calipers rebuild and had the valve clearances done.

We have spent a lot of  time and money to make the car run smoothly and reliably and I have been using this car everyday and its hasn't let me down once. It can cruise on the motorway with no problems. There is an oil cooler fitted to keep it running nicely and doesn't over heat in traffic etc.

As the car seems so original. we have tried to keep everything as original as possible whenever we have done anything. There is probably a lot more that I have forgotten but basically its a excellent starting point for someone to build a concourse car or just as it is as a lovely classic to enjoy. especially with the weather soon turning nice but just remember it is a 40 year old car that is unrestored!

Viewings are welcome and highly recommended. Please call Andrew on 07941203371 to arrange a viewing and feel free to message me (Emma) or call Andrew if you have any questions.
