On Fords 50th Golden Birthday they came out with an exquisite line up of exclusive cars in the luxury class that were highly optioned and in the day very desirable. but not as desirable and rare as toda!
The 53 Sunliner 50th Anniversary Edition was just one of these cars. beautiful machines and this particular example is featured with its factory Flat Head V8 and optioned automatic transmission. it even has the power convertible top option. and new for the year was power assisted brakes and steering.
This car is really special and is actually an all original 88. 00 mile car that was beautifully maintained over the years in a private estate collection of cars.
The Sunliner previously underwent some restoration but still has many original components as well.
This is a great driving car. smooth and steady down the road. easy to handle and a real joy to cruise in.

1953 was Ford's 50th anniversary.
The big news for 1953 was the availability of power-assisted brakes and steering. which had previously been limited to the Mercury and Lincoln lines.
The center grill bullet lost its ring and was now flanked by vertical black stripes. while the corner markers were plain rectangular lights rather than the circular "intakes".
All 1953 Fords featured commemorative steering wheels marking the company's 50th anniversary as on this car.
William Clay Ford paced the Indianapolis 500 in a Sunliner convertible with a dummy Continental kit (Coronado kit).
Toward the end of the year. Ford added "Master-Guide" power steering as an option on cars with V8s.
Full instrumentation was still used.
A unusual service (how times have changed) provided by Ford was that the radio preset buttons would be set to local stations by the dealer.
