A very rare car. Of the 727 examples produced. very few were done as cabriolets with most carrying more formal coachwork. This car has been under long term ownership for the last decades. During this time the engine had a full major & costly rebuild by noted marque specialists Taylors of Birdham. In addition to the Mechanics. the paint was also done as was the leather.

Coachwork is by "King of Coachbuilders" Messers Hooper & CO. It takes the form of an all weather four door cabriolet with both sets of doors hinged from central upright pillars. The body is to Hoopers usual high standards of fit & finish resulting in a rattle free ride & doors that shut like those on a train carriage.

Finished in Dark Blue over mid blue the paintwork makes for a striking appearance & is in excellent order. To the interior is grey leather to all seating surfaces Complimented by royal blue carpets & grey over rugs.

The car is equipped with very wide occasional seats making it a true 8 seat vehicle providing the occupants are reasonably svelte & lissom. On the occasion of collecting the car from Chichester we wafted over to the Rolls Royce factory where the car was greeted with wholesome approbation the good folks at RR who insisted upon putting it in pride of place outside the main entrance for some pictures with a modern Phantom. Always happy to see early cars. the factory encourages owners to visit if they are passing.

Having had such a thorough rebuild. the car is in needless to say superb mechanical condition. The engine starts instantly & is barely audible when ticking over. It runs cool with superb oil pressure & gives effortless power. The engine bay is detailed to show standards. Unusually a Boa constrictor style brass horn is fitted. The odometer reads 51. 00 miles. Judging by the absolute lack of wear on the throttle pedal we wonder if this may be correct?

This is a car that has had everything done to it & needs nothing. People rightly fear these cars if in poor condition. but this car is in superb order & represents the pinnacle of pre war Rolls Royce development with none of the issues of an un-restored car. It is ready for the coming season & this phantom would make a magnificent continental tourer. The car will be displayed on our stand at the end of March in Technoclassica. Essen if not already sold.
