Time to part with my 1988 bj74.   It has been a weekend driver for me and I have kept it in the garage.  The BJ in the name of this cruiser designates it as having a b-series engine and a heavy duty chassis/suspension designed with durability and off-roading in mind.  The  LJ series cruisers have L series engines (with common head problems)and have a light duty frame. The 13bt is very tough and is known to run 400. 00-700. 00 kms before a rebuild if properly serviced. The engine. transmission. and transfer case all work well without issues.  The 13bt has noticeably more power than a 3b engine and has no precups to worry about cracking.  It's hard to compare a turboed 3b with a 13bt.

There is a hand throttle you can use when warming up the engine in the morning. The 5 speed 13bt's can be a little jerky off road because of the direct injection. This auto transmission shifts smoothly and is my preference. You can upgrade the valve body if you want more power out of the transmission (see extreme valve body for the A440F transmission). I think it has plenty of zip and never have felt the need to increase power.

Removable FRP (fiber reinforced plastic) top. Factory PTO winch. power steering

This Land Cruiser was never offered in North America and this particular one was originally sold in Japan. Right hand drive which means only the young at heart would be interested. My wife and friends like driving it and have not had issues. I think right hand drive vehicles turn more heads than left hand drive.   I get lots of looks when I pull up next to a driver in an intersection.   Driving right hand drive is just a mental hurdle you have to overcome.

I recently drove the cruiser 1. 00 miles on a road trip and had zero issues. It was a comfortable ride. I also took a weekend trip with some friends to Leavenworth. WA and packed 4 grown men into the cruiser with luggage which goes to show how much storage space there is.

Stainless bull bar from Japan has been professionally installed and Hella Fog lights are mounted in the center of the bar which are controlled by a factory switch in the dash.

I will include some manuals for this cruiser along with new and used parts sources as well as replacement bulbs for the exterior lights. Obtaining parts for this vehicle is not difficult. You just have to know where to find them. There are a number of parts you can pick up at your neighborhood auto parts store for this cruiser.

Is the BJ74 still for sale? What are you asking for it?
Thanks, Nick
