Triumph Vitesse MK2 – 2000cc

Non Overdrive

First registered 1 Jan 1969 (G reg).

Tax & MOT until Feb 2015 (MOT with no advisories).

Mileage 45000. although cannot be verified. 3 previous owners.

Due to ill health I am no longer able to work on my Vitesse. so it's with a heavy heart that I have to let it go.

The car was last on the road in 2000 and then laid unwanted until I purchased it in 2012. I have included a couple of pictures of what it looked like before. See also the Photo bucket link for a further 40+ photos.

I have carried out a complete nut and bolt strip down of this car including body off.

Detail of work:

Stripped car

Clean. repair and fit new outriggers to chassis. rust treated. primed. and painted in body colour and Waxoyled.

All suspension removed. cleaned. replaced and refitted.

New bushed and bolts

New shock absorbers front and rear

New brakes. reconditioned callipers and all new brake lines.

Engine. gearbox and ancillaries removed. cleaned. repaired and where required parts replaced. new head gasket etc etc

Alternator conversion completed

Carbs (Stromberg's) stripped cleaned fitted with new gaskets and needles.

New front stainless exhaust. remainder is good sports twin pipe stainless exhaust.

Cooling systems. cleaned and all hoses replaced.

New fuel pipes and pump.

Body

Stripped and repaired. only new panels required were lower doors and front right wing. all other good.

Whole body painted in blue and old English white.

Chrome replaced or cleaned as required.

New window seals for front and rear.

New halogen headlights fitted and battery is recent.

Interior

New roof headlining and webasto roof new outer vinyl and inner trim.

All new carpet and seats (fronts are leather Jaguar XJS high back seats). giving much better support and comfort. these tilt forward for rear access.

(Note. the seats easily removed if retro fit vitesse seats required. no modification to original fittings made. car comes with original seat slide frames).

The car is fitted with a set of Cosmic wheels. these are not copies and are original from the 60/70s. These have all been stripped and repainted. fitted with a good set of tyres (175/70 13).

Radio/CD Player.

A set of 4 original wheels are also supplied. although these new some replacement tyres and a clean up).

In summary

A great every daily driver. with no rust or body issues. paint looks good but would not class as concourse.

As I said at the beginning Ill health has force me to sell. If I were to keep this I would carry out further improvements and get the carbs fully reconditioned (£150) and also fit a recon unleaded cylinder head (£350). But as we all know. classics all need attention these 2 jobs would only improve the driveability.

Note. this car is fitted with a twin pipe sports exhaust from the Triumph Sports 6 Club. this being a 6 cylinder. the engine sounds great with the deep throated rubble.

I have set a reserve that I consider fair for the car and allowed for the further improvements I have listed.

First MOT for 14 years completed without any advisories. valid until Feb 2015.

Tax is 12 months which is free.

I have a large amount of receipts for parts. files for reference. repair manuals and loads of rebuild photos. all to be supplied on memory stick.
