At the end of WWII. MG car company realized that they had a tangible market for the next model of their T-series. As American GI's headed home. toting their tried-and-true MGTC's back across the pond with them. it became clear that the U. S. would soon be a thriving market for the nimble and powerful cars that MG was now producing. The TD was the next step forward for MG –  designed with the post-war American market in mind: TD's left the factory with left-hand drive. to better suit the driving conditions in U. S. ;with 15″ steel wheels. rather than the TC's 19″ wire wheels. which drastically improved the handling of the car. especially in tight corners; and with approximately 200lbs more weight than the TC. though equivalent power – which decreased acceleration but increased the top-speed. For all the changes made to the TD. many of the TC's iconic aesthetics were carefully retained. including the cutaway doors. flowing separate fenders. fold-flat windscreen. and diabolical top. The interior of the MGTD continued to use the beautiful 1920′s wood styling. but with a little more room than the TC had allotted.

The MG-TD was only available for three years. followed by the less-successful MGTF. which makes finding one of these cars in tip-top shape all the more impressive.

Simply put–this particular 1953 MG-TD may be the most beautifully restored TD currently on the market. This is a stellar example of an older restoration that looks like it was completed yesterday – it is certainly one of the nicest MGTD's we have ever seen. This is not puffery–come see the car for yourself – we guarantee that it will live up to any inspection. The supple leather seats and well-maintained top speak to the care of the previous drivers as much as the clear. clean red paint speaks to the expertise with which this car was restored.

This vehicle is a true delight to drive — winding down the road feels like a trip back in time. One long country drive in this car and it's clear why the TD's were so popular with in post-war America — this MGTD offers a brand of motoring. cooked up with nimble handling and a visceral. tactile driving experience. that is worlds different from anything offered by American auto manufacturers in the 1950′s. This car presents a combination of strength and versatility that is superior to those in most other 1950′s cars – whether British or American. And. as a true testament to the incredible quality of this particular restoration. the underside of this example is as nice as the luxe. concourse-quality top.

This is a collector's car. without a doubt. It is the the highest quality you can ask for in a TD and you will not be disappointed with it.
