Foldaway hood. Tonneau Cover. Wire wheels. Mud flaps. Front Spot lights. Rear fog light. Luggage rack. Passenger wing mirror. Front disk brakes. Overdrive. Battery cut off switch. Radiomobile radio with ipod lead. Leather seats. Boot carpet
This lovely classic MGB is finished in period Old English White that makes for a beautiful combination with the white piped leather seats and sparkling chrome work. The car is an older restoration that benefited from a Heritage shell and complete rebuild in the late 80's and has lived a pampered life since. only picking up a couple of minor chips and marks and minor paint imperfections.
All of the chrome is in very good condition and it comes with some good extras including the front spot lights and the luggage rack on the boot. The foldaway hood is in excellent order and it also comes with a rear tonneau cover for the rear compartment and a full tonneau cover for when the car is left with the hood down. The car has been very sympathetically restored. sometimes they can feel over done but this one still has a classic feel but is solid and rust free. The car has been fully inspected and is extremely solid showing no signs of welded repairs.
The leather seats are wonderfully comfortable and the car has a great low down driving position hunkered behind a period spoked steering wheel. Everything is as it should be with the original MG steering wheel and gear knob. all the dials and controls work as they should and this example benefits from the highly desirable overdrive that makes for much more relaxed high speed cruising. All the carpets are fresh and clean and the boot area has been beautifully trimmed. including a spare wheel cover.
The period Radiomobile radio is still fitted and has been modernized inside so it now has a lead to allow iPod connectivity. The single speaker has also been replaced with an exact size modern replacement for improved sound quality.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The engine bay is very clean and free from any corrosion on the inner wings or bulkhead. Mechanically the car is in first rate order which is further evidenced by the excellent recent history and a comprehensive service last summer. With a little choke the car bursts into life and quickly finds a steady idle with a lovely burbling noise through the stainless exhaust. The gearbox is tight and precise and the overdrive works exactly as it should on 3rd and 4th gear. The power still runs of the original dynamo and there is a battery cut off switch under the rear carpet to prevent any power drain.
WHEELS. TYRES & BRAKES
This MGB has been upgraded with a set of very desirable 14 inch wire wheels. while not being perfect they clean up very well with only minor discolouration on some of the spokes. they are all shod in a matching set of Pirelli P6000 tyres that all have an even 6mm of tread. The front brakes have been upgraded with larger disks and callipers and the results are a 60's classic that pulls up quickly even by much newer car standards.
This MGB was first registered in 1964 and then benefited from a Heritage shell rebuild in the late 1980's. The original engine. gearbox. interior and colour have been retained which is all detailed on the Heritage certificate.
There is lots of recent history covering the last 10 years showing light regular use and an excellent maintenance regime which backs up the first rate condition and the excellent drive. The last service was done last summer at NBA Sports Cars in Dunsfold and included all fluids being replaced. new filters. new plugs. diff seals and the fitting of an electronic ignition for improved reliability.
The history file also includes lots of the recent MOT's. tax disks and a spare set of keys.
