EARLY SERIES ONE 3. 8 FIXED HEAD COUPE PROJECT LOADS OF REALLY SOUGHT AFTER BITS AND BOBS. nbsp; COMPLETE UNFITTED UNIPART GENUINE JAGUAR BONNET

THE CAR IS FAR FROM COMPLETE AND HAS NO ID OR V5 . I HAVE HAD THIS LYING AROUND IN A WAREHOUSE SINCE I WAS 19 YEARS OLD. WHICH IS A LONG TIME NOW!!!!

I BOUGHT VIRTUALLY EVERY PANEL IT NEEDED OFF UNIPART AS IT WAS THEN. REAL BRAND  NEW GENUINE PANELS. INCLUDING A NEW GENUINE BONNET WHICH EVEN THEN COST A SMALL FORTUNE.

UNFORTUNATELY IT HAS BEEN QUITE BADLY STORED AND ALTHOUGH COMPLETE IT IS RATHER BUMPED ABOUT. A FEW DINTS AND BRUISES BUT WOULD NOT BE A MASSIVE JOB FOR ANY COMPETANT PANEL MAN. . PLUS THERE ARE 2 NEW UNFITTED ENGINE FRAMES SEE THE PHOTOS I HAVE TRIED TO SHOW EVERY PANEL. THE ONLY WAY IS TO VIEW REALLY TO GET AN IDEA OF EVERYTHING.

WE STARTED WORKING ON IT TO BUILD A RACE CAR BUT UNFORTUNATELY LIFE GOT IN THE WAY. WENT WORKING ABROAD THEN UNI. WE DID A BIT TO IT ABOUT 20 YEARS AGO. CLEANED IT UP STARTED REBUILDING IT THEN I STARTED RUNNING A BUSINESS AND IT AGAIN GOT SIDELINED.

AT SOME POINT A COUPLE OF LOWLIFES STOLE THE LEAD OFF THE WAREHOUSE ROOF AND FOR MANY YEARS WATER DRIPPED ONTO THE NEW BOOT FLOOR  PANEL I HAD FITTED. THE RESULTANT WATER  ENDED UP STANDING IN IT AND EVENTUALLY RUSTED THROUGH WHICH IS GUTTING AS I THOUGHT IT WAS SAFE AND DRY. SADLY THIS WASN'T THE CASE.

SOME OF THE PANELS ALSO SUFFERED. SOME ARE STILL FINE. OTHERS ARE NEEDING THE MAINLY SURFACE RUST CLEANING PROPERLY BEFORE USE. THESE WOULD COST THOUSANDS TO REPLACE NOW. SO WELL WORTH DOING.

I STARTED CLEANING UP THE SHELL IT WAS NOT SO BAD WHERE THE WAS NO WATER DAMAGE OUTSIDE THE BOOT. IIT IS NOW DOWN TO THE METAL AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PICS. I WILL ETCH PRIME IT IN THE NEXT DAY OR SO TO PRESERVE IT WHILE IT IS RESTORED. IT IS NOW SAT ON  THE JIG I MADE MANY YEARS AGO THE FLOORS WERE REPLACED AS WERE MANY OF THE PANELS. THE BULKHEAD IS VERY GOOD AND AS YOU CAN SEE THERE IS STILL PLENTY TO DO BUT AT LEAST YOU CAN SEE WHAT YOU HAVE GOT.

WHEN WE STARTED RESTORING WE STARTED AT THE FRONT AND WORKED BACKWARDS SO MOST OF THE FLOOR IS FINE. JUST NEEDS THE FINAL FETTLING. TC. ONLY PLACE WE DIDN'T FINISH WAS THE BACK OF THE DRIVERS SEAT AND THE DOOR POSTS REQUIRE FINISHING ALSO BUT ALL PANELS ARE THERE AND JUST NEED FINISHING OFF.

ONE DOOR IS MISSING IT WAS STOLEN YEARS AGO FROM A FRIENDS WORKSHOP. THE REMAINING DOOR IS NEEW I THINK BUT HAS A LITTLE SURFACE RUST THAT WILL COME OF EASILY.

OVER THE YEARS I HAVE COLLECTED MANY PARTS FOR THIS PROJECT QUITE RECENTLY I BOUGHT A 3. 8 EARLY SHORT ENGINE. THE BLOCK CASTING STATES 8TH JANUARY 1962 I BELIEVE IT MAY BE THE OTHER WAY ROUND 1-8-62 ? NOT 100% BUT DEFINATELY A 1962  I WILL CHECK THIS. IT WAS OUT OF AN OLD RACE CAR I WAS LED TO BELIEVE AND HAS HIGH COMPRESSION CERAMIC COATED PISTONS BUT IT NEEDS A TOTAL REBUILD IN MY EYES. NOT SURE WHAT CAN BE RE-USED.

I HAVE A CYLINDER HEAD THAT IS FAIRLY COMPLETE BUT THE WATERWAYS ARE NEEDING REPAIRING  ALTHOUGH SCARY LOOKING IT IS ACTUALLY AN EASY QUITE CHEAP JOB AS YOU DO IT AS A PART OF REBUILD IT AS A WHOLE. I CAN PASS ON THE DETAILS OF AN EXCELLENT ENGINEER WHO IS VERY REASONABLE IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO REBUILD YOURSELF.

NO CARBS OR MANIFOLD THERE IS HOWEVER A GENUINE 3. 8 E TYPE SUMP WHICH ALTHOUGH A BIT DIRTY AND UNLOVED IS VERY SOUGHT AFTER AND WORTH A PACKET ON IT'S OWN!!

IN THE DEAL WITH THE ENGINE I GOT A GEARBOX THAT LOOKS PRETTY OK TO ME. THE STARTER. FLYWHEEL.  A NEWISH  LOOKING CLUTCH COVER AND PLATE. DISTRIBUTOR OIL FILTER HOUSING PLUS MANY OTHER ODDS AND ENDS.

THERE IS  A COMPLETE EARLY BACK AXLE I STARTED TO STRIP IT TO GET IT CLEANED AND REBUILT.

2 FRONT HUBS OFF A DIFFERENT JAG WHICH I THINK WILL FIT OK  BUT HAVE BOLT ON HUBS FITTED PRESENTLY THESE I WAS TOLD CAN BE SWAPPED FOR WIRES BUT WE WANTED IT FOR RACING SO IT WAS NOT AN ISSUE.

NO RESERVE PREFER IT TO RUN TO THE END AS I DO NOT KNOW WHAT IT'S WORTH. IF THERE IS NOT ENOUGH INTEREST AFTER 7 DAYS MAY CONSIDER RE-LISTING AS PARTS BUT SEEMS A SHAME TO DO THIS . BUT I WANT TO GET THE MAXIMUM I CAN AS IT COST ME A SMALL FORTUNE OVER THE YEARS IN PANELS PLUS THE ENGINE AND BOX LAST YEAR.

I HAVE PROBABLY FORGOTTEN SOMETHING BUT AS I SAID THE BEST THING TO DO IS LOOK BEFRE YOU BID. NO EXCUSES LATER. IT IS WHAT IT IS. A PROJECT. PLEASE DON'T ASK IF I HAVE ANY IDEA ETC OF HERITAGE OR NO. S AS I DON'T. BACK WHEN I BOUGHT IT THEY WERE NOT PARTICULARLY VALUABLE AND IT WAS JUST AN OLD SHELL TO BUILD A TRACK CAR IF I HAD ID IT WOULD BE WORTH DOUBLE SO BELIEVE YOU ME I HAVE LOOKED INTO IT!!!
