1926 Vintage Unic ‘Camion' Flatbed Truck - Part-completed Restoration Project FOR SALE

Lots of information and photos below. but first of all here's an overview video:

This circa 1926 truck has been the subject of restoration by the previous owner over the last few years. but a change in circumstances meant he could no longer see the project through to completion. Much of the hard work has been done. and after further attention will result in a period truck of manageable size and undoubted interest as one of the few examples to have survived. This vehicle would be ideal for a practically-sized show exhibit. and one which can be driven there with the inherent advantage of effective brakes on all four wheels. perhaps even with another exibit on the back!

The quality of the construction is evident. including the presence of large Perrot four-wheel brakes. The cab has been beautifully reconstructed to exactly the right proportions. and the flatbed can be finished as such or as a dropside. The bed length has been measured to give the right look of the overall design. based on contemporary photographs of similar types.

The engine and running gear have not yet been touched. but appear complete. and should present no problems following the usual recommissioning procedures.

Included are original steel front wings (sound) and bonnet (for pattern). plus windscreen base. signed 'Unic' oil gauge. and several other spares. Although there is no paperwork. the brass Unic chassis plate is present. and will facilitate registration with the DVLA as a historic vehicle in the usual way.

Georges Richard was a pioneer French car manufacturer under his own name from 1897. later as Richard-Brasier. winners of the Gordon Bennett Trophy in 1904 and 1905. He established Unic in 1905. a speciality being the production of taxi cabs which found great favour in London. The firm's four-cylinder 1943 cc engine was extremely successful. having a production run of some 20 years. and from the early 1920s was used in light commercial vehicles. Truck production developed and Unic became a leading French marque. absorbing Sauer in 1956. amalgamation with Fiat commercials in 1966 and later Ford HGV. the company is now unified as Iveco.
