BENTLEY SPECIAL

1948 BENTLEY SPECIAL.  The current 1930's style body was fitted to the chassis in the 1980's when the saloon body was removed. The 4250cc engine was also replaced with the more powerful 4566 litre engine from a 1952 Bentley.
The wings. front and rear . are original Vintage Bentley Vanden Plas steel wings. According to the paperwork that came with the car. it has had the engine and radiator lowered to reduce the centre of gravity. along with the suspension. A new stainless steel exhaust was fitted in 1997.
The Bentley has been re-trimmed in leather with new side panels. new carpets. new fuel tank and many other items of which most were hand made ( a detailed list of the work carried out is listed below )
The last few owners of this Bentley have all been members of the Bentley Drivers Club and in fact it was owned by the Chairman of the South West Region. The Chairman always had a vintage Bentley and as age came upon him. he decided to sell the vintage car and purchase this one so he could still go on the continental tours which he organised with the Bentley Club.

We have removed the bonnet straps as the Bentley looks more elegant without them. When you look at the car it has a touch of Mercedes about it. it is a long low 4-seater and looks more like a 1930's style of car.  
1) body removed from chassis and repainted. all body panels repainted. 2) chassis cleaned and repainted where required. 3) all road wheels repainted including the trims. 4) spare wheel repositioned from the rear to be a side mount on the passengers front wing. 5) new alloy fuel tank designed and fabricated and fitted. 6) new large Monza fuel cap fitted to the fuel tank together with brass breather blocks. 7) new stone guards manufactured and fitted to the fuel tank. 8) new diver helmet rear lights fitted and the wiring rewired with new. 9) racing number plate circle fitted to the rear of car with Bentley winged B badge. 10) period number plates fitted. 11) new catches  and fittings fitted to boot lid. 12) new front headlights and stone guards. new wing mounted side lights. all lights rewired with new wiring. 13) complete re-trim in English hide which also includes the new hand made alloy front and rear seats. 14) new side panels in matching leather with bossed 'B' and all new wool carpets edged in green leather. 15) double duck hood. hood bag and tonneau with new fixings as required. 16) new wood rimed steering wheel retaining original modified Bentley centre. 17) machined turned aluminum new dash with some new gauges. switches and warning lights. new wiring. 18) engine serviced. cleaned and detailed. new brake hoses . 19) the brake system has been overhauled in recent years with little use since.
