BENTLEY EIGHT 1991 LPG

Here for sale is a truly special car.

 Rolls Royce & Bentley are synonymous with luxury and for good reason too. despite being over 20 years old. this car is still superb. It benefits from:

Stunning metallic blue paintwork!

- Heated leather. electric. memory seats (two heat settings for both driver and passenger and 4 memory settings)
- Cruise control (it is common to find issues and when I Was looking for a car this was a must. no problems at all)
- Air conditioning / climate control. all working perfectly no need for a 'regas' on this one
- Power steering. ABS. electric windows all round. 12 disc cd changer etc.
- There is a Nokia Bluetooth headset integrated into the car which will work with any Bluetooth enabled phone.
- A reconditioned gearbox was fitted ~3 years ago and cost £3k and is perfect now
- Additional 'bright work' the badge bar on the front is apparently quite rare and the shiny bits are still highly polished
- Superb LPG system
- 6 months tax and MOT

The Whitewall tyres have loads of tread left.

There has been a few bits of general maintenance recently but it hasn't required much - front discs. a couple of bulbs. one sensor (rear crank) and coil packs (as a service item. the previous owner did plugs and leads).  Most parts are made by Bosch and you can still get very affordable replacement parts with a bit of searching around.

The car is in very good condition for the year as shown by the pictures; it doesn't need any work to be used for special occasions such as weddings if you choose. It has been used as a daily driver and has proven to be very reliable. You don't need to worry about it breaking every 5 minutes!

The car runs on the best LPG system I've ever had. it switches over from cold the moment you blip the throttle and it's absolutely transparent that you are using gas. It kicks down as it should and the performance is absolutely fine. I regularly get the equivalent of 30mpg out of the car which is really quite impressive considering the 6. 75 litre V8 powering it! Last Bank Holiday weekend. we went to the coast - a 170 mile round trip and still have quarter of a tank left from the £40 it cost to fill up from empty!

The drive is great. if you feather the throttle it is whisper quiet and you can waft around effortlessly. There is plenty of low down torque which means you have the feel of a nimble car which is nice around town. It will happily cruise down a motorway at legal speeds and above without any drama at all. If you do put your foot down. the front end lifts up and the car just surges forward until you lift off again. it's really quite something! Don't get me wrong. this isn't a 'fast' car. it is built to cruise but it does move if provoked!

My absolute favourite part of the driving experience is the cornering. it has an 'auto ride' system using spheres and hydraulic fluid (just like Citroens) and it makes for a truly impressive ride quality when you go round a bend. it is like driving a comfortsable sofa!

There aren't many issues with the car:

- There is a button for the fuel filler cap inside the car and this doesn't work. I have stripped down the back end of the car to investigate (expecting the solenoid to be the problem) and it is all working perfectly so looks like it is a wiring fault. I haven't bothered to investigate it any further because I literally use it once every few months due to the fact it runs on lpg all the time other than for starting. You can still use the filler by simply pulling a release cord in the boot.
- The boot lock barrel is missing. this is hidden behind a Bentley 'B' on the back so you'd never know but it's something you should be aware of.

The odometer reads 65000 miles. but it had a reconditioned unit a couple of years ago (which read 50000 when it was fitted as all receipts are present) so the correct mileage is about 150000 which is still low for its age. It is possible with all the recceipts to work out the mileage exactly! 


There are more receipts and MOTs for work done on the car throughout its life. The MOT is not due until October and it went through with no advisories last time. I have the V5 and two keys as well as the Bentley leather bound books including the service history which has 17 main dealer stamps in the book plus loose sheets from Bentley/Rolls Royce specialists up until 2008 which covers thousands of pounds worth of maintenance (The car has been well looked after).



I had a check done by a specialist when I bought the car who did things like coolant effectiveness. battery tests. checked all fluids. joints etc. and it passed with flying colours.

There are a couple of minor stone chips/dings on the car but nothing sinister and you're STRONGLY advised to come and look at the car if you're interested in buying it. At the end of the day. it is still an old Bentley and will need looking after so you should be prepared for that. There will be no haggling or negotiating after you bid.

This is advertised locally for £6k which is a fair price in my view.

One final point. the private plate (J10 MNB) WILL be sold with the car
