Further cleanout of surplus vintage cars and parts: ANOTHER BARN FIND. This is a no reserve auction and the MG will be sold regardless of price. on or off auction.      This particular auction is for an authentic original 1954 MGTF 1250 as shown. It is an unrestored matching numbers original survivor. The engine and transmission are indeed original. the engine having been overhauled just before the car was stored. The odometer shows about 71985 miles. It is probably correct but cannot guarantee it's accuracy. There are over 50 photos. As of this writing Hagertys classic car values list the value for the 1954 1250 MGTF at  $16. 00 low range to $55. 00 high range.

Getting tired of seeing nothing but "restored" or junk. modified. restorod. unoriginal or rusty cars for sale? It is hard for the do it yourselfer to find an original car worthy and inexpensive enough to restore and have something that is a solid original when the job is finished. A lot of them have been given a one week "restoration" hiding many sins and covering up the interesting historic indicators of time. Most solid original survivors have disappeared. A lot of the leftovers are either "restored" cars or rusty beaters. I have never bought a "restored" car. having spent almost 40 years collecting the best original condition cars that I could find and putting them in storage preserving them for enjoyment by some future owner.

I will answer all email questions. Following is a detailed description:

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

No title - bill of sale only. Georgia was not a title State.  It is a numbers matching engine/transmission original Southern Georgia car. Purchased new by owners Father in 1954. Originally red. repainted once in white. The sheet metal was all removed from the car and the motor was overhauled in preparation of the first restoration but the owner passed away before any further work was done and his son inherited it in that condition. Everything was stored in a garage for many years. The roof of the garage collapsed in one area where the sheet metal was stored exposing it to rain so the sheet metal ingeneral is in poor condition. being rusted in areas or deeply pitted. A lot of it is useable or repairable. The rear fenders escaped damage and are in good condition. The front fenders were stored upside down and water accumulated in the top area. rusting out at the very top as shown. The general chassis. frame. engine. gauges all escaped damage. as they were in a different area of the garage.

ENGINE:

Original matching numbers motor. Previous owner said that it was overhauled just before storage and it looks like that may be correct. He lubricated the cylinders and rotated it periodically. It starts and runs very well. No noises. no smoke and good oil pressure. It sounds nice and tight and the Abarth exhaust is still is serviceable condition - Engine really sounds nice. The one photo of the oil on the dipstick is exactly the way the car was found. The oil is as clear and clean and new - and it has not been changed. He also said that there had been some performance work done at the time the engine was overhauled. He had no idea what kind of work was done. nor do I. The engine was started and run on an external fuel tank - we did not take the time to run it from the gas tank because it will need cleaning out and some fuel lines will need replacing. Valve cover removal and inspection through the spark plug holes shows a very clean and proper engine inside. Engine number is XPAG/TP/33084

TRANSMISSION AND REAR DIFFERENTIAL:

Original matching numbers 4 speed transmission. Shifts well in a stationary position. Original driveshaft. transmission and differential are intact and were fully functional when parked.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT:

Looks very nice and straight as shown in the photos. Battery is not included. Original Morris radiator looks to be undamaged. Original Lucas generator with the original tachometer gearbox attached. Original SU carburetors. The tool box is solid and not rusted through. Original functioning Lucas starter

  EXTERIOR SHEET METAL BODY PANELS:

Rusted or pitted as noted above. with the exception of good rear fenders. The front headlight buckets are very good. The front fenders are repairable. The passenger door is there but is in very poor condition. Running boards are missing. All of the sheet metal is just hanging on with a few bolts - nothing was permanently mounted.

EXTERIOR BODY PARTS:

Rear bumper is missing. Windshield has one small crack in one corner. Windshield frame chrome is still decent for it's age. Grill is also pretty nice with a couple of very small dings. The original grille chrome will clean up pretty well for a driver. All 4 of the door latch opening and shut mechanisms are there. The pushbutton bonnet opening assemblys are missing.

PAINT:

Originally red from the factory. One repaint in white. Very little paint left as most was removed for the restoration that never happened. Front fenders are in primer.

   CHASSIS:

The frame and underside of the car are in very good condition. No damage or repairs. Straight and original. Surface rust only. 2 new correct wood floorboards are included. Some of the other wood will need replacing.

  INTERIOR:

The passenger floorboard has been replaced with a new one. There is a new one for the drivers side also but the original looks to be in good condition and may be useable. The original steering wheel and horn button assembly are still pretty decent for a driver.

DASH AREA:

The dash is original with all of the original gauges. The gauges look to be in nice condition. The clock reset mechanism even works - nothing in the gauges appears to be frozen or broken. The chrome trim polishes up good for a driver. There is an ignition key but no switch on the backside. Car was started by jumping the wires.

   UPHOLSTERY:

The seats are pretty nice - can be used as is or recovered. They are not bolted down to the floor. Carpeting of course is toast.

TIRES & WHEELS:

Wire wheels are original to the car. Michelin tires are toast - one will not hold air. There is a very good vintage Dunlop tire on one wheel that is close to new and can either be used or resold for a period correct tire.

EXHAUST:

Exhaust system is there and pretty sound - it has an Abarth muffler - those Abarths were pretty thick and this one looks to be quite useable - sounds very good and does not leak.

SUSPENSION AND BRAKES:

All original suspension and braking mechanisms look to be present and accounted for. Cannot see anything missing in that department. Braking hydraulics of course will need to be rebuilt. British car hydraulics that sit for longer than 48 hours need rebuilding. Original shocks look to be all intact.

MISCELLANEOUS:

Car rolls and steers easily with the exception of one flat tire so no problems with shuttling around. The convertible top frame and side curtains are missing - there are a couple of side curtains but they are in poor condition.

PAPERWORK:

There is no title. Georgia was not a title State until recently. Car will be sold with a bill of sale only.

FACTORY ID PLATE:

The original ID plates are all very nice and unmodified. The vehicle serial number is MDP46/3236.

REVIEW:

A matching numbers car that is worthy of restoration or resurrection. Weak points are the sheet metal and some missing easily obtainable parts. Strong points are the running gear. engine. transmission. gauges. chassis. frame. completeness of undercarriage. There are a number of spare parts as shown in the photos. Looks like all or most of the stainless steel trim is there - There is also a set of new aluminum trim included. The engine air cleaners are there but are in very poor condition.

INSPECTION OF CAR:

As always. it is difficult at best to describe something as complex as a vehicle and it is highly recommended that you personally inspect the car or have a 3rd party inspect it for you. I can accomodate anyone to show them the car. It is described to the best of my ability along with many good photos but it is the bidders ultimate responsibility to ensure that what he thinks he is getting is indeed one in the same and something he will be happy with. I have purchased and sold roughly 25 autos through ebay over the past 15 years and also many more over the telephone and have always had excellent results and complete satisfaction from the buyers but I do my due diligence and suggest you do the same. I describe things as honestly as humanly possible.

SHIPPING:

I have shipped many cars to all parts of the world and can assist the buyer with transport or completely arrange transport. The car is in a secure place at my home. You  can collect the car at my home. I can assist with loading. The car can stay here for up to 30 days from the close of the auction but I cannot guarantee it will be covered for long. I could use a tarp if necessary.

PAYMENT & BIDDING:

Contact me if you have less than 5 feedbacks or your bid will be cancelled. A $500. deposit via Paypal is due immediately after the auction closes. The balance is due within 3 days via priority mail with a bank cashiers check or cash. Payment is to be made IN ADVANCE of collecting the car. IN ADVANCE. BEFORE YOU COLLECT THE CAR - This is an auction and you have plenty of time to inspect the car personally or have a 3rd party inspect the car - inspections are welcome and encouraged. Full payment is due BEFORE the car is collected. Winning the auction does not mean that you now have the privilege of coming and inspecting the car to see if you like it - it is your car and payment is due at the close of the auction. In my experience most of the cars sold on ebay are a wholesale bargain. Mine certainly have been. No Paypal.

One more thing - there is no heater - no idea if it was an option back then or not.

On Feb-25-14 at 12:45:25 PST. seller added the following information:

"THERE WILL BE AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE OF $200. " ON THE SALE OF THIS CAR. REASON BEING A NUMBER OF PEOPLE WANTED PAPERWORK SO THAT THE CAR COULD BE TITLED AND OR REGISTERED IN THEIR STATE OR HAVE THE CORRECT PAPERWORK TO EXPORT IT OUT OF THE COUNTRY. SO I HAD TO GET INSURANCE ON THE CAR. OBTAIN LICENSE PLATES FOR IT AND THEN GET AN OFFICIAL GEORGIA REGISTRATION. SO NOW THE CAR HAS AN OFFICIAL  GEORGIA REGISTRATION WHICH SHOULD ENABLE ANYONE TO GET A TITLE AND/OR REGISTRATION FOR IT WHEREVER THEY LIVE OR BE ABLE TO EXPORT IT OUT OF THE COUNTRY - MY COST ON THIS WAS A LITTLE OVER $200.
