From the last year of production. this is one of the few left hand drive Ghosts built. all of them in the USA. The body is slightly earlier than the chassis. and is by Locke of New York. very substantially constructed. and in wonderfully sound condition. with a proper ‘railway carriage' feel to the doors. Recently re-painted in Black and Claret. with appealing. mature. original interior. Very clean throughout. running and driving well. and fitted with overdrive and front disc brakes. probably by Frank Cooke. in Massachusetts.

Chassis No. S287PK. Reg No. BF 6342. £99. 00.

In March 1925 Mrs S J Harris took delivery of her car at 2304 Grandview Avenue. Cedar Heights in Cleveland. In 1847 the Mayor of Cleveland was a Josiah A Harris (1808/76) a newspaper editor. The development of Grandview was carried out c. 1895 by Edmund Walton & his brother on land which had previously been owned by the oil magnate J. D Rockerfeller. By 1956 the car has travelled some 35 miles down the coast to be with S G Sipple of Lorain. Ohio. there are records of the Sipple family (originally from Hessia. Gemany) –Philip who arrived in 1853 as a carpenter & joiner & later recognised as the leading contractor & builder of North Amherst – he seemed to specialise in the construction of Churches. Simon Sipple – pastor; John – whose business was Sipple Shoes. George – President of Amherst German Bank and Henry – Director of Amherst Water Co. After a couple of years S287PK moved down the coast to be with the 3rd owner Leonard Kirtz. in 1950 his firm Akron Candy Co purchased MacKenzie Candy Co; the firm of Akron Candy Co produced lollipops & MacKenzie's specialised in Fudge. Between 1970 & 2006 S287PK was with Frank Cooke who used the car as a demonstrator – complete with Perspex bonnet & wooden bench seat! In 2006 W J “Wolfgang” Stroman acquired the car when he fitted the Locke body; Wolfgang was a Texas rancher who owned a string of Ghosts from sporty dropheads to a balloon car to a limousine as well as a Bentley 4 ¼ ltr.
