1959 Jaguar Mk 1 SedanI have owned this original California black plate car for 18 years and during that time I have assembled many desirable upgrades such as a complete Jaguar 420 front suspension and subframe which gives the car better suspension geometry. larger brakes and the superb Marles/Adwest Varamatic power steering. The subframe was completely dismantled. each part powder-coated and reassembled with new bushings. ball joints. brake rotors. wheel bearings. Boge shock absorbers. and rubber mounts. I also acquired a wider Mk II "Powr-lok" rear axle. added new leaf springs. trailing control arms. Boge dampers. panhard bushings. wheel bearings. splined hubs. brake rotors and upgraded  2 1/8" calipers. Four new Dunlop chrome wire wheels and Pirelli P600 tires. A rebuilt 3. 8 liter engine was sourced and the intake manifold was machined to accept the larger S. U. HD8 2" carburettors. A new clutch and T/O bearing have also been fitted to the original Moss 4 speed with overdrive transmission. The front grill has been re-chromed and the dash wood has been refinished with ten coats of Minwax spar urethane. This is an extremely dry car with only the typical rust spots behind the wheel wells where even on California cars debris would collect and re-wet every time the car went through a puddle. All critical areas such as floors. boot. rockers. out-riggers. rear spring mount areas and "crows feet" are rock solid.  Back in England they would kill to have such a rust free body to restore. The car now needs to have the body prepped and painted. interior redone and new wiring loom fitted. Overshadowed for years by it's newer sibling. the. the sportier Mk I sedans are now coming into there own and values of well sorted examples are soaring. This is the Jaguar model that the great world champion Mike Hawthorn favored and sadly perished in. This is a car that deserves to be finished and preserved. but if the interest is not there. I will begin to part it out instead. I am relocating and can not take it with me.  Ever see a XK150 do this?
