I have too many toys and need my space (and cash) for other projects. so I have relisted this with a lower price as it has a short MOT and I do not intend to spend any time or money to get it through the next one. I have other priorities now. The price reduction more than compensates for the short MOT and is way in excess of what it will cost for a new one (see jobs req in red below). So. make an offer early or miss out. someone will be getting a bargain. Here are the details as per the original advert:

For sale is my Porsche 914 with a 6 cylinder Porsche engine conversion (914-6). The car is somewhat ‘unconventional' so apologies to the 'purists'. but it is great fun and after all. it is an 'Outlaw'.

The car has an MOT until June 2013. and has road tax (free) until Aug 2013.

It is LHD. I personally imported it from the USA back in early 2008 and I am the only UK owner. It is one of many lhd cars I have driven on UK roads. vision is good. the mirrors are well placed and the car is nimble enough to negotiate traffic without concern. It is no problem to drive in our traffic system at all.

The car is registered as a 1971 car although it does have many later 914 model ‘features'. As it is registered as manufactured in 1971. it qualifies for historical vehicle status and is therefore exempt from UK road tax.   It was built over in the USA for a father and son to enjoy together. to be used by the father on the 'track' at weekends and by his son ‘cruising' California during the week. I managed to persuade the owner to sell it when newly completed and before they had a chance to use it. so it came over to the UK unused since build.

It is still largely as it was described to me by the American seller (see his details below in italics) give or take a few changes I have made to 'tweak' it to my liking. It also has a little additional wear and tear as it is now 5 years on since build. although it has only had very little use. As you would expect with a restoration. it is remarkably solid and despite the USA paint job. details up very nicely. The description I received from the seller when I bought it follows in italics:

I reinforced any areas of potential future rust problems the battery box was replaced with a heavier gauge unit. The longitudinal was plated with reinforcement pcs and welded to add strength

Since the pas side longitudinal showed the beginnings of future rust concerns . the entire area was reinforced with 16 ga plates. I spanned the plates well into clean areas . migged into place 14-16ga plated the upper/ inner side of the frame / longitudinal for extra strength . all seams were Mig Welded into place all along Reinforcements contiuous bead welds . were used primed painted and undercoated the entire chassis . trunk. tail light area had a small surface rust . cleaned up nice
treated /primed / undercoated. all potential rust areas were treated and undercoated in and out . whether it needed it or not!

Back to my description:

The car is now just out of winter storage.
As it doesn't get much use these days and is 'laid up' most of the time. there are few small jobs to be done:

The levers on the door locks need a bit of adjustment. they lock but the passenger (offside) door now only opens from the outside. They did lock fine but lack of use hasn't helped. The horn doesn't work. The handbrake doesn't work anymore. don't know why as it once did!No heating. the car was built to be driven in California! It's only had summer use in the UK.
The bucket seats need fixing in place as I changed them out. and then decided to have them put back again
It has a dog-leg box. not a negative but it does takes some getting used to!
The car was painted in the USA where they don't suffer the same climate as we do. so I don't think the prep is quite the same as here. Also. it stood outside here in the UK through a couple of winters before I found indoor storage. hence the paint could now do with a little attention here and there (no rust though). It still looks great when polished up. but if you want to win shows. it will need a quick ‘blow-over' – that's all it needs and only if you're a perfectionist.
I hope the pictures do enough talking as I try and remember what other info to add. I am sure that there are many things I have forgotten to mention. so please ask away if you have any questions.

I have been fortunate to have owned and driven some decent motors over the last few years and although this is not the most expensive. it is certainly one of the most fun to drive. and. it gets more attention than anything else I have driven. It goes well. sounds awesome. and handles like a dream.

Very important 'stuff' to note:
Please note that the car is advertised in several other placers and therefore may be withdrawn without notice if sold. No bidders with less than 5 positive feedback or those with 'any' negative feedback (unless they contact me direct before bidding). Genuine interested parties only please. no timewasters.
