1962 Austin Healey Tri-carb

This 1962 Austin Healey 3000 MkII BT7 tri-carb is one of the nicest of this model we have seen.   And one doesn't see many because the tri-carb was only available for one year and when one becomes available. the nice ones are snapped up by collectors.   Due to its rarity and enhanced performance. this model is a favorite among Healey aficionados.    Our model is a fully-documented restoration featuring:

·       A Heritage Trust certificate documenting the car

·       Respray in original Colorado Red

·      Fresh upholstery & carpet

·       Replacement NOS block

·       Original bare block (in crate) with engine tag

·       Overhauled original transmission with overdrive

·       New wire wheels (originals provided as well)

·       New tan top and black tonneau

·       New side curtains

Every effort has been made to preserve the originality of the car and when replacement parts were fitted (i. e. . NOS engine block. wire wheels) the originals were kept and they will convey with the car.

They don't get any Nicer!

·       Paint and Chrome

The first thing noticeable about this Healey is its nice respray in the original Colorado Red color (as confirmed by the Heritage certificate).   Just detailed and buffed. the paint—done when the car was restored about ten years ago—looks fresh and shines deeply.

The chrome all looks fresh with virtually no pitting.   The chrome wire wheels look as new (and the original wheels will convey to the new owner as well).

The body and underside of the car are free of rust and make clear that this car was the subject of a full restoration (see pictures).

·       Interior

The original red upholstery was redone in tan vinyl and makes an excellent contrast with the Colorado Red exterior.   The door panels and all four seats are in excellent condition.   The carpet is a matching dark brown.

The padded dash is in good condition and free of cracks.  All of the engine/systems monitoring gauges (temperature. fuel and oil pressure) work properly.   Similarly. the speedometerand tachometer work. as does all of the safety equipment (lights. horn. wipers. etc. ).   The turn signals will require some attention to get them to work properly as will the new top and side curtains that will need repairs and/or adjustments to get them to fit properly (they have never been used on the car).

·       Engine

The car's 2. 12 cc engine was replaced less than 1. 00 miles ago with a New Old Stock (NOS) block and was fully rebuilt [we have the factory crate that it came in as well as the car's original block and engine tag].   The engine starts right up and runs like new.   It is nestled in a fully-detailed engine bay.

·      Transmission

The transmission with electric overdrive was rebuilt at the same time as the engine. and it shifts properly.   The overdrive engages and disengages as it should. allowing extended highway cruising at reduced engine RPM.

·     Tires/Wheels/Brakes

The virtually new tires. Kumo 165R15s. are mounted on 4 new chrome spoke wheels. and the same size spare is mounted on one of the original wire wheels. properly secured in the trunk.   The car's radio is not working.

The tri-carb has front disc and rear drum brakes. the combination of which allows the car to come to a safe and straight stop from speed.

An Excellent Example of one of Austin Healey's Most Collectible Cars

Finding a fully-restored example of the Healey tri-carb is a rare event.     These cars are highly in demand and therefore represent not just a great driving experience but a sound investment as well.   After all. you can't take your CDs or stocks/bonds for a weekend drive or to a car show. and even if they may be blue chips. they will never take the gold trophy!
