What started with a " garage find " underwent a complete dis-assembly of the car. The frame was first high (HOT!) pressure power washed which resulted in finding no rust at all on the framework of this car. Frame was them media blasted and spray painted with Chassis Saver Black Urethane.
All Skins ( fenders. shrouds etc. ) have been addressed both sides. Insides with Chassis Saver Black Urethane to deter future corrosion. and were stripped to bare metal ( outside ) with airport stripper and 00 steel wool. All exterior skins have received etching epoxy primer. 2 coats of sikkens base coat and 2 clear coats. Floors. pans. all have been media blasted. epoxy primered and have also received 2 base coats of sikkens paint as well as 2 clear coats.
This particular car has incorporated the " Healey 5 Speed " Conversion kit which is linked up to a W58 Completely Rebuilt Toyato 5 Speed Transmission.
The motor was completely broken down. crank was spray welded and re-cut for todays tolerances. then Balanced and documentated.
All new engine components "EVERYTHING" inside the motor and heads has been addressed NEW. weighed. balanced and professionally installed to within todays race spec limits. thus resulting in the motor being balanced and documentated.
Replaced original oil filter assembly with a K&N spin on oil filter linked up to an exterior oil cooler
Have also included an auxiliary 14" electric fan ( pusher type ) for additional cooling as most Healeys are renowned for overheating in Standing Traffic.
Custom Exterior Heat Shield made and installed with a 1/4" air gap.
Fully chromed Tourist Trophy exhaust system from headers to exhaust tips.
Completely rebuilt seats in Leather with both front seats being heated on demand
Beautiful ( extermely tight ) matching Burgandy top. The car also has the Hard Top that you see in the photos
Sound damlening Heat Shield throughout the interior floor and footwells of the car. padding and new carperting throughout
Completely new wiring harness.
New Brakes. calipers. lines cylinders ( clutch also ) new handbrake hardwares COMPLETE.
For those of you who have ever restored a car like this. you know that the list seems to go on and on. Any questions. just ask.
The face of the dash panel and the steering wheel leather wrap is basically all that has not been addressed on this car. I thought to leave them.
Please do not let the mileage that is listed here mislead you. Since the completed Restoration just before winter arrived here 2013 there has been the following:
A) 20 minute run in on completely rebuilt motor: Oil and filter changed then
B) 300 Miles Driven on new Rebuild: Oil and filter again Changed
C) Less than 700 Miles put on car before being put in garage for the winter.
So your looking at roughly just 1. 00 miles on a throughly dis-assembled and rebuilt car.
Car has about 200 Miles on brand new 72 spoke STAINLESS rims and new radial tubless tires.
I am the one who did the sweating and bleeding and cursing over the restoration of this car. I'm realistic enough to know that I'm more than likely not going to get my sweat back in terms of dollars. I accept this. but I do hope to recoup my investment.
This is an absolutely wonderfully running and physically beautiful car.
Best of luck to all.
