So you want a sporty classic car with some rumble. You could buy or build an MGB with a Rover V8. Well they only made 1/2 million MGB's so go for it. How about buying a rare British hotrod that few have ever seen. and few know the incredible low production numbers. My money is on a very rare TR8 Coupe. The TR8 coupe was the chassis of choice by Bob Bonduraunt and others to dominate road racing and rallye racing in that era. Tr8's are still being raced today!

This TR8 was purchased new in Ft. Worth Tx from Overseas Motors. was traded back in a few years later. and was picked up by one of their mechanics. who owned it for decades. Eric Deihl in Arlington was the next owner. who sold it to me in Grand Prairie Tx.
As you know. these tr8 coupes are rare Triumphs. and the collectors are grabbing them up and locking them away. They are destined to be rapidly appreciating investments. This is the 2nd rarest car I have ever owned next to a DB5. The 8 has just had a complete service. from oil change  with a remote oil filter conversion for better oil cooling. trans oil. diff oil. and new wheelbearings in the front. In the last year it has had a new clutch. nbsp; new bearings and  seals on the transmission. rebuilt rear brakes. new tires. turned brake rotors. flushed hydraulics. new mild Isky cam and lifters installed 4 degrees advanced for more low end. cats replaced with test pipes. new clutch and lightened flywheel. new shifter bushings. new balljoints. urathane front suspension bushings and mounts and trailing arm bushings. The ignition has been upgraded to a Crane system. I also installed a better radiator fan switch and relay system. It is tuned to run on regular gas!
The paint and interior are presentable but not perfect. as you can see in the pictures. The seats and carpet are nice but the door panels are starting to show their age.   The paint is not high quality but it presents well. and being a North Texas car. rust is minimal for a 34 year old car.

TR8 coupes dominated their class in Rallye Racing when they arrived on the scene. You will enjoy the stiff-rigid chassis of the coupe ( the convertibles are know for their flexing). and the responsive power steering with the lightweight. all aluminum V8 under the hood. Of course that is the venerable Buick 215 v8. later used in the Landrovers in the 3. 5 liter guise.
The car really rumbles with the v8. dual exhaust. and the Edelbrock 4 barrel carb. The original intake and carbs will be set inside the trunk for delivery with the car.
It runs as well as a 5. 0 Mustang. and  it loves to run with highway traffic rolling on at 80 mph plus while the AC freezes you out.   I find it very empowering to drive.
This car has the best AC of any car I have ever owned.
The AC has been upgraded to  Sanden style rotary compressor.
Buy a TR8 coupe with a 5 speed while you can. Many were automatics.
. you'll never see another one when driving around or showing your TR8 coupe!

Read Joe Mahoney's article on the TR8 coupes.

The original. rubber. nbsp; rear bumper cover comes with the car.
This car just had over $4500 worth of work done to it. my loss is your gain.
Wait til u drive this little BEAST!
