1967 Jaguar 240

What You Need to Know
We're proud to offer for your consideration this rare 1967 Jaguar Mk II 240 conversion. (More pictures and video of car below)  The Jaguar 240 is a rear wheel drive saloon passenger car powered by the legendary XK straight six. 2483 cc engine. This six cylinder features two valves per cylinder and delivers approx 133 hp.  Top speed as reported by the factory was 106 mph.  The car averaged 19 mpg and could go approx 286 miles on a tank of gas.  The engine supplies its power through to the wheels via a four speed manual transmission.  While this car was a "cheapened" version of the previous Mk II 2. 4 model it was mainly cosmetic.  The once standard leather upholstery was now optional as less expensive Ambla (leather like) interior took over.  The integrated fog/spot lights were now optional.  The most obvious external change was the adoption of a slimmer. single chrome bumper bar front and rear. similar to that on the Jaguar S-type models.   Out of sight the straight port cylinder head was adopted and twin SU HS6 carbs were fitted instead of the previous solex carb.   This gave the car a useful power increase and resulted in a top speed figure increase. Production of this last-of-the-line Mk II ended in 1969 after the new XJ6 had firmly established itself.   You just don't see many cars like this. with just 3716 right side drive Jaguar 240's ever produced.   Owner believes this one came over to the United States around 1976.   The car was originally the color you see on the top. which we believe is called Pearl Gray but not sure.   The maroon color was added by previous owner.   We hope someone will keep it here but it's likely someone will try to get this car back to the UK.    Identification plate is as follows:Car # - 1J1368  (used on title for a VIN)Body # - 4J1409Engine # - 7J 1400-8 (8 indicating 8:1 compression)Gear box # - JC7874

The car features four wheel disc brakes. good tires. a working AM/FM cassette. and working gauges. Mechanically the car appears to be in great shape with only some minor exhaust work needed. We also found in our inspection that there is a problem with the back doors. You need to reach in from the front and open them from inside. You'll need to pull the door panels off and see what's going on but likely an easy fix.

We have over 60 pictures related to this car.  If you would like to see them all simply click the photobucket link up top. We've shown most of them below  a plus a video of the car.
