This is a two owner 911S that has been in Southern California since delivery.
It's what I'd call an "honest" car. It's been used; not pampered. It has what they like to call "patina. "

The good:
• 911S -- one of 600 or so S Targas made in 1969
• Everything matches. We have a CoA confirming numbers. original color and optional leather seats
• Unmolested: still has the original Mechanical Fuel Injection and shows no evidence of body panel replacement. Carries rare Hella 139/169 lights
• Everything works: Engine starts quickly and runs strong. Transmission shifts smoothly and is quiet. Clutch is good. Brakes are good. Turn signals and other lights all work.
• Body gaps are good
• No rust through underneath -- even in front pan.
• Correct 5/69 dated 15 X 6" Fuchs wheels
• Rare engine "skirt" option in place (and shown on CoA)

The not-as-good:
• Repainted in the 70s. It was a glass-out paint. done to a high standard but it needs a good repaint
• Bubbling at base of Targa bar on left and on cowl near windshield seal -- easily fixed when repainted. Bubbles in driver's door panel at inner seam. Despite these few spots. the car is remarkably rust free. Bubbling in paint on hood -- likely due to years under a car cover.
• Undercoating has come off the pan. This is typical of 1969 Porsches. which did not have the better undercoating of the later long hoods. This means some surface rust on the pan. but I see nothing serious.
• Leather driver's seat is showing wear. One of the 'basketweave' leather panels has torn. The driver's seat could use some repair.
• Overall wear consistent with a 46K mile car
• No service records from first owner (1969-79)

Who is this car for?
This is a good car to drive right now. as-is. These cars seem to be on an endless appreciation curve. with restored examples headed into the $125-150K range. So. it could be restored now. or later or never.

What does this car need?
To drive it now. I think a new set of tires would help. though not necessary. But that's all. The car runs and drives very well right now. Some fine tuning of the MFI could relieve some popping at part throttle when cold. but otherwise. the engine is in a good state of tune. For ultimate peace of mind. I would install the 930-prefix chain tensioners with collars. This preserves the engine appearance better than the later pressure fed tensioner retrofit. For use in California. the tags have to be brought up to date. This is not an issue in Europe or out of California.

If you have never driven a '69 S. it is remarkable. A powerful. peaky engine and agile chassis add up to a car that begs to be driven aggressively. I believe Tangerine is the most appealing of all the period colors. As color trends have come and gone. Tangerine seems the most continuously desirable. There were likely only a few dozen Tangerine '69 S Targas made. and not all survive today.

We all can go back and look at car prices 20 years ago and recall that they seemed high at the time. but now find those cars have doubled and tripled in value. I believe this car has a good chance of being in that category. I am selling it for an owner who is out of the country 2/3 of the year. I have access to take any photos you need or arrange a viewing and test drive. The car is stored at TRE Motorsports in Van Nuys. a world-famous Porsche specialty shop.

Previously. the car was stored at the owner's house. under multiple car covers from 2007 to late 2012. It was recommissioned with gas and other fluids flushed. brakes serviced. electrical gone through. etc. by Scientific Automotive in Pasadena in the Fall of 2012.

The odometer shows 46K miles. As you know. there's no 6th digit on this vintage odometer. I see no reason to assume the mileage is not accurate.

I have experience shipping cars everywhere in the US and to other countries as well.

This link is to multiple photos of the car -- some dating back to before the engine grille was replaced with the original 3-bar grille and before we sourced the correct foglight. All pictures in this listing are of the car in its current configuration. Flickr Album Set
