For Sale is my 1970 Citroen American D-Special. This car is essentiall a mix between the ID19. and DS19 for the American market. Though it has some palas bits on it. it is not a palas model. those trim pieces were installed by a previous owner.

This is a very unique car. many first in the car industry. If you're looking at this car. you probably know about it. and there's no need for me to go into a whole lot of detail of how crazy this car is. But if not. here's James May talking about it http://www. youtube. com/watch?v=6gpUHtRVBn4

This has been a passion project of mine. and clearly of the owners before me. The car came with many "Citroen of America" paraphernalia. as well as old repair manuals and shop guides.

Since I've owned it. it has been maintained and restored by the top and only citroen mechanic in the south east who has been working on these cars for 20 years. and knows them inside and out.

As far as I can tell. the engine-out was rebuilt about 1100 miles ago (which is what the odometer reads). I don't know what that entails. but it came with pictures of the new engine block. and everything being put together. I believe it could be considered a full restoration of the engine.

Now I would like to note. this is not a purists car. modifications have been made to make sure this is a drivers car. including adding battery and ignition switches. and re-wiring most of the electronics. This car is not built to be an "all -original" show car. but much care was taken into the upgrades/repairs.

A non-comprehensive list. as far as I can remember is as follows:

Engine out rebuild weird french alternator replaced with a GM alternator so that a modern battery can be used Primary hydrolic pup relocated for easier service Battery replaced with AC Delco in 2013 Replaced ignition coil in 2013 Point ignition replaced with HEI electronic ignition (drastically improves drivability and relaibility. expensive but worth it) Downpipe/gasket replaced in 2013 Exhaust (downpipe back) replaced in 2013 with factory exhaust. Looks good/Sounds good Remanufactured starter Spark plugs replaced with champion spark plugs 2013 (oem) Heli-coil replaced and reinstered for reliable spark Full checkup performed in 2013 including filters and fluids

Very fun car to drive. this is a 4 speed manual on the column (not the hydrolic shifting version)

I've spent my time and money working on restoring it mechanically. What good would cosmetic restorations be. if the car was in poor shape mechnically. Though I'm sure there are some mechanical items that can still be fixed/adjusted. I believe now is a good time to begin the cosmetic restoration. I would consider the paint to be in poor condition. with many marks and bubbles from a sub-par paint job. The intorior is in decent condition. no tears in the seats and relatively clean. but the headliner will need to be replaced (see pictures. weird fur headliner that's sagging).

Please let me know if you have any questions. I'm happy to answer them. I have a clean title in hand.

While in decent shape. this car is 44 years old. Please do not plan to drive this back further than half an hour or 45 minutes. you don't know what issues you may have. Please plan on trailering it. so that you can become familiar with its quirk in a familiar town. I trailered it from middle US to Atlanta for around 500 dollars plus tip (open trailer)

I am looking for a citroen DS or ID that needs to be restored. I rather have one with a good frame and body and everything else is shot. For I plan to paint it and have the interior done plus I want to put on new tires. So I don't care what it looks like inside or out as long as there is not a rust issue.
