GP LDV Beach Buggy

On offer is a 1971 registered GP LDV Beach Buggy which has free road tax and is MOT'd right up until November 2014.

This is the rarer GP ‘Light Delivery Vehicle' based on a standard length VW Beetle chassis and is described as a Pick-Up and ‘Historic Vehicle' on the V5C.

Previous owners have clearly spent significant time and money restoring the buggy. with the underside looking exceptionally clean and rust-free.

When I bought the buggy it had no engine. so I have spent time and significant money getting it in to a running state and through an MOT. including adding the following items:

Used Twin Port engine

New electronic distributor

New belt guard

New chrome rocker covers

New fuel pump

New air filter

New pushrod tubes and seals

New barrel/cylinder head studs

New starter motor

New track rod end

Probably some other bits and pieces I have forgotten about!

Other features include:

-        Scat gear shifter

-        Selection of poly-bushes fitted

-        Harness-type Sabelt seat belts

-        Stainless cannon exhausts (Sound lovely)

-        Spun aluminium fuel tank

The metallic purple bodywork looks impressive but predictably has a few marks. scratches and small cracks commensurate with its age and fiberglass construction. but is in generally good condition.

Inevitably on a vehicle this age there are some not so good things. which include:

Rear chromed wheels have some rust scabs & some of the other chrome work is slightly pitted

Crack on one side where the roof joins the windscreen frame (Photo included)

A piece of the fibreglass dash mounting is missing (Photo included)

It drips some oil

Some of the gauges are not wired up

Could do with a tune up to get it running sweetly

There are probably some things I have forgotten to put in this description. so if you are seriously interested in the buggy you really should take a look for yourself – This is a genuine sale. so it will be better that you ‘see before you buy' and the buggy is available for any inspection by arrangement during the day at an SN11 8SD postcode. I believe that this GP LDV is worth the money and hopefully the photographs will speak for themselves - Any reasonable offers will be considered. but please don't expect me to give it away.

I have tried to make this description as accurate as possible on what is a 40+ year old machine. but you should keep in mind that it will not be perfect. It does have a few marks. blemishes. faults etc. and will require on-going work if you want it to be an immaculate show winner.
