The P4 90 was replaced in 1960 by the more-powerful P4 100. Its similar 2. 6 litres (160 cu in) IOE straight-6 engine was in fact a short-stroke version of the P5 3-Litre unit. The car could now reach 100 mph (161 km/h). The interior was luxurious. with wood and leather accents on traditional English car elements like a curved “Shepherds Crook” handbrake lever. Either a bench or individual front seats could be ordered. A heater was a standard fitting. Like the smaller 80 version. the 100 was fitted with servo-assisted Girling disc brakes at the front. keeping drum brakes at the rear. Overdrive. on top gear only. was a standard fitting.

In essence the Rover 100 was the beginnings of a “useable classic” that didn't just have the elements and sleek lines of the earlier models but was also much more user friendly. Essentially this vehicle would be more than happy to cruise at motorway speeds and to stop in shorter distances than its predecessors.

This particular example finished in a rare single tone “Shadow Green” paintwork still remains in exceptional condition after a seemingly pampered life. Fitted with a period “Viking mascot” on the bonnet but more incredibly it still retains its ORIGINAL. untouched Burgundy hide seating and interior carpets which boast a fantastic “used” patina that is not to be confused as “worn out”. The instruments are also original and complete including an original period radiomobile MW/LW radio. heated rear windscreen etc…. The overdrive works as it should with no issues - The toolkit is also complete and the wheel brace and jack are also present in the boot.

This is a fantastic opportunity to own a piece of British heritage – Definitely not to be confused with other tired and abused examples or over restored and thus unusable cars on the market
