If your looking for a genuine un-molested jeep to keep and have fun with. you've found it!

In 1950. the first postwar military jeep. the M38 was launched. based on the 1949 CJ-3A.

In 1953. it was quickly followed by basically what we have here. the M38A1 (NEKAF). This new model featured all-new "round-fendered" body in order to clear the also new. taller. nbsp;Willys Hurricane engine. This jeep was later developed into the CJ-5 launched in 1955. Similarly. its ambulance version. the M170 featuring a 20-inch wheelbase stretch. was later turned into the civilian CJ-6.

The World War II Jeep inspired many imitations. Creations from competing manufacturers such as Land Rover. nbsp;Toyota. nbsp;Nissan. nbsp;Mitsubishi. nbsp;Suzuki. and a few others all owe their beginnings in the 4x4 world to the inspiration of the Willys Jeep.

The compact military jeep continued to be used in the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

In Korea. it was mostly deployed in the form of the MB. as well as the M38 and M38A1 (introduced in 1952 and 1953). its direct descendants.

These vehicle's hold the longest service record in the Dutch military. serving in the Royal Army for more than 40 years from 1952 until 1996.

During and shortly after World War II. the Dutch army used jeeps left behind by American forces. By the early 1950's however. the army was looking for a replacement. and in 1952 received a number of U. S. -built M38A1's under the Mutual Defence Assistance Program

According to the contract with Kaiser-Willys. parts for the Dutch M38A1 Jeeps were to come from the U. S. . but as an aid to the Dutch industry. the Jeeps would be assembled at the "Nederlandse Kaiser-Frazer" (NEKAF) factory in Rotterdam. The first of what became known as the "Nekaf Jeeps" was delivered on 28 May 1955.

The Nekaf Jeep was basically an M38A1 with a few additions needed to comply to the Dutch traffic regulations of the time: extra reflectors screwed to the front fenders. low-intensity "city lights" added to the grille. and turn signals mounted to the left and right sides of the tub just behind the seats.

This example we have on offer here has been in our own collection and on display in the Museum area.

Carrying a lovely mellowed patina she looks exactly how they should. straight from the battle field.

Not over restored or worked to death and barely hanging together. just a really nice genuine solid rot free Jeep.

De-mobbed in March 1962 (Hand written on the bonnet) 'XUV' spent many years in dry storage before coming into our collection.

As new canvas hood. doors. front & rear seats. correct period tyres together with a nice untouched instrument display and operators instruction plates sets this example out over and above the usual 'tinkered with' examples offered for sale.

The longer you spend looking around this Jeep the more you appreciate exactly what it is. The most genuine example we think you'll find.

Serviced and fitted with new batteries in the summer of 2013 ROAD TAX AND MOT FREE 'XUV' is ready to have fun with!

A TRULY CRACKING JEEP. Which I would drive anywhere.
