Rust Free California Blue Plate 1978 Champagne Edition Westfalia!

 With mixed emotions we are offering our 1978 Volkswagen Champagne edition Westfalia camper. She is a "California Native" still wearing her current and original Blue and Yellow California License plates issued when she was first sold on June 28. 1978 by Stevens Creek Volkswagen in San Jose California. Our beloved Westy has spent her entire rust free life in sunny California. She is ready for your next adventure providing future memory's to the lucky winning bidder.

 Our head turning Volkswagen Westfalia runs excellent!  Most recent updates include new front Brake rotors. Calipers and pads at 72. 89 miles on November 21. 2012. We also installed new Brake lines and did a brake fluid flush. All new bearing were installed on all four corners. We installed all new lines and hoses that lead to or from or within the engine compartment. We used OEM Porsche hoses for Vacuum. heater fan. Aux vent since these items were no longer available from VW. The engine was serviced as well. Tires are excellent with at least 85% tread life left. She also shifts effortlessly and correctly with no grinds and never pops out of gear thanks to a new Sachs clutch that was replaced on April 14th 2011 at 70. 71. She is equipped with dual batteries and on March 12. 2011 both Primary and Auxiliary batteries were replaced.  New shocks and CV boots were installed on November 3. 010 at 70. 17 miles.  A new muffler and Catalytic converter was installed on October 9. 010 with 70. 85 miles and she passes the dreaded California Smog test with ease!  We have extensive service records that cover 30 years that will come with her along with all original Volkswagen and Westfalia owners manuals for the new owner.  Simply put our VW pop top is ready for just about anything.

 She drives fantastic with excellent performance on all types of roads and she keeps up with traffic with ease.  The steering is tight. precise and free of play.  She drives down the road in a straight line at any speed and never pulls to any side and when it's time to stop she does it on a dime. The head lamps. back up lights. tail lights. brake lights. turn signals and license plate light all work correctly. Overall she drives like a champion and can be driven anywhere with confidence.   

 Our original California Westfalia camper has zero rust anywhere including floors. dog legs. rain gutters. nose etc! She turns heads everywhere! The first re spray ever occurred a few years ago. At that time we replaced the old chrome bumpers with paint-able ones because my wife and I prefer the traditional contrasting look of the white painted bumpers better. We also installed new head lights. new tail light lens covers and all side marker lamps. all new bulbs and outside mirror.  She is a driver on occasion and while she really is simply stunning she does have minor flaws. If you look really hard and at an angle you can spot a six inch shallow surface scratch on the rear drivers side quarter panel that occurred on a recent camping trip however I have been told it should easily color sand and buff out to correct and minor nicks on the upper pop top surface. Our Champagne edition Westy has been seldom used by us and we have reserved her for local camping and beach trips and last year's July 4th and Christmas parade here on Coronado Island.  We were just recently asked again if we would put her in the upcoming parade July 4th 2013. Most of the time she sits in our garage however when we do take her out she receives thumbs up and turns heads everywhere by both young and old alike!

Our Champagne edition camper has been garaged most of her life and it shows! The interior of our head turning camper is simply amazing for 34 years old. The Plaid material and padding on the front seats are excellent. The z-bed cushion and rear pad are very good with very little ware. The upper bunk is in terrific condition. The interior door panels are all original and in good condition overall. The carpets do have ware. The interior wood veneer cabinets are superb and free of any flaws. The dash is also superb with zero cracks anywhere. All rubber seat base pads are original and excellent. We installed a new Propane tank. The two burner Stove works correctly as does running water. water storage. sink & frig are ready for action. Lovered camping windows are tight and work correctly. Front and rear tables are present in excellent condition. We installed all new correct pop top seals and new top of the line Hemp Blend three window pop top tent. All Curtains are original in very good condition and free of flaws. All instruments work correctly including speedo. odometer. gas gauge and warning lights. Instrument light bulbs were just replaced. She has never been smoked in and there are no signs of any tobacco products ever being used in her and she has zero funky odors! She is also equipped with her original rear bug screen. Jump seat stool and child's cot. She has a MP3 CD player and four speakers that sounds very good. She has seat belts for four and all belts are fully functional. The interior is in amazing condition considering her age and truly demonstrates a loved and well taken care of vehicle.

 My wife and I own and love several VW vans and with both of our children in college it has become time to simplify our life and reduce our collection. We recently purchased a smaller home with smaller garage and needless to say the time has come to find our Westy a new home. The new owner will get a truly exceptional rust free California turn-key. drivers quality. partially restored 1978 Champagne edition VW Westfalia that turn heads everywhere you take her. Our Westy is not a trailer queen. she has very minor imperfections as mentioned. She is simply an exceptional and superb Type II. Our truly wonderful VW demonstrates "Pride of Ownership” both from us and her prior owner and during our own watch and it is our goal that she finds the same kind of love so far in a whole new home with VW like minded people! We sincerely hope the next owner will take the same pride in our VW as we did.

All inspections must take place prior to auction close. Important transfer information:

The winning bidder of our beautiful Champagne edition 1978 Volkswagen Westfalia will provide a $500. 00 non refundable deposit within 48 hours of auction close via Pay Pal.

She is being sold AS-IS and No Warranty is implied.

The balance is due within seven days of auction close via Cash in person. Cashier's check drawn from a local bank or credit union or bank wire!

If balance is paid by check vehicle will not be released until funds clear our account.  Cash in person or bank wire releases our Westy immediately.

Wire fee's from International buyers are the responsibility of the winning bidder.

Within 48 hours after auction close. buyer will provide seller with complete transfer information including full name. address and phone number and business information if applicable.

Upon clearance of funds seller will overnight clean California title and registration with complete bill of sale and transfer documents to winning bidder.

 As a courtesy to all parties and to save potential headaches for all; please do not bid if you do not have the resources to complete a sale.  Banks and credit unions seldom provide financing for vehicles older than fifteen year old so if you need a loan it could be difficult.  

Shipping cost are the responsibility of the buyer and the 1978 Westy should be picked up within ten days of close of auction. Seller will assist buyer in getting to local port or trucking depot.
