Out of necessity and desire to buy a truck for the farm. we are reluctantly putting our van up for sale. It is a 4 speed. manual. 1982 diesel Vanagon that has come a long way since we bought it in Utah in August of 2011. Since then. an array of maintenance went into it. including swapping the engine for a 1. 9L diesel engine installed by a VW specialist in Reno. NV.  The engine was imported from Germany and was never available in the US.  Its closest relation would be the 1. 9L from a 96-97 VW Passat.  At the time of install the new engine had 127. 31 miles on it and many other engine components were replaced as well. Also. at around this same time. I installed a grease car wvo kit. so this van is ready and willing to be powered by vegetables. In addition to the standard grease car fuel kit. I also installed a fuel temp gauge. and an additional plate and frame heat exchanger.  I should note that the odometer has never registered on this van. Though from the time of the new engine we have made one trip from Nevada to Illinois and then on to Oregon. 2 trips to Burning Man(from Oregon). and one trip to the Oregon coast. Since then this van has resided and hasn't left the Bend. Oregon area. I approximate the mileage to be 136-140. xx. We have gotten this van to a point where it is a sound operator. starts reliably well in the cold. gets good gas mileage. and can be someone's daily driver as it is mine.  This is a camper van. though the stove and refrigerator have been removed.  New set of tires last winter and receipts in hand for all of the maintenance done since we've owned it.   Comes with Bentley repair manual.  This is definitely a fun ride but just not practical for us any longer.
This van runs. drives. and is ready to go. but below I will list any quirks or current issues that come to mind.  Please ask any and all questions prior to bidding as I want to portray the condition of this van as accurately as possible.
*Odometer not registering*Broken left side mirror*Long skinny scrape in paint on left side from rubbing a mailbox*Some loose and missing screws securing camper to body.  Slight warpage in pop top on right rear. but doesn't affect functionality and does not leak. *Fuel filler hole too small to accept a standard diesel nozzle*Ignition wire(since replaced) started a small fire in engine compartment.  Fire burned through all of the vegetable fuel system wiring(since spliced back together and operating without issue. )  Fire caused no other damage to engine or components.  *A couple of the illuminated digit bars on the fuel temperature gauge are out. but numbers can still be read. *Some coolant lines wearing due to vibration and close contact.  Not immediate problem but will need further addressing. *Block heater needs rewiring. but van has been starting in -5 degrees without it. *Back seat is make-shift as I modified it to install the vegetable fuel tank underneath of it.  Seat belts are there and seat is useable. but seat back is not fastened. *Some wears and tears in seats and cushions. *Some mirrors on cabinet doors cracked. *Some curtain fastening hardware needs replaced. *Insulation on motor cover not the prettiest. *Doesn't drive well in snow*Auxiliary battery is good but is just oversized for the under seat compartment. so in effect the compartment lid doesn't close all the way. *Just the way it is. don't expect to pass a turtle on the highway.  With his guy. slow and steady wins the race.
The hard work on this difficult to find diesel van has been done. and I have done my best to describe its current condition accurately; however this car IS old and is sold as-is.  Local pick up only or shipping is the buyer's sole responsibility.  Again. please respond with any questions you may have. I will accept cash in hand or a bank to bank transfer within 3 days of auctions end.  Once funds are received and confirmed by my bank. I will forward the title on to you. This van is for sale locally. so I will end the auction if it sells.  Thanks for looking and have fun bidding!
