Here's a very nice 1970 RS/SS 350 Camaro. This is a one owner car purchased new on May 13 1970 at Courtesy Chevrolet in Thousand Oaks California. It was originally Mulsanne Blue with a blue interior and it was ordered with both the RS and SS packages. The car had a 300 horsepower 350. a 12 bolt non-posi rear axle with a 3. 07  ratio. a Turbo 400 automatic transmission and factory air conditioning. It still has the original rear axle (COS 0226G2) and transmission but the motor is now a NOM factory GM replacement with a 3970010 casting number and an MH21800 stamping number. I was told the motor is a 383 but I did not verify this. It does have a Edelbrock carb. a 3972116 intake (aluminum LT1 high rise) and a cam with a nice lope.

This car has a little less than 64. 00 original miles and was subject to a very thorough restoration. The entire car was disassembled down to the bare body shell. The front subframe was powder coated and all the front suspension pieces were painted or powder coated. All the suspension bushings. ball joints. tie rods. the center link. shocks. everything is new. The rear suspension is all new as well. and larger sway bars were added both front and rear. The front and rear brakes are also all new. new calipers. rotors. shoes. hardware kits. everything is new. All the brake lines and the master and booster are also new. The rear axle was totally gone through as was the transmission. The fuel tank. fuel lines. transmission lines and u joints are also new.

The body was stripped to bare metal everywhere and after detailed prep it was shot in Cortez Silver. The doors were also totally stripped and repainted everywhere. inside and out. The door jams and firewall were shot as well. and the floors were shot in rubberized undercoating on both sides while the trunk was shot in correct Zolotone. A new trunk mat is inlcuded in the sale.

In final assembly all the body mounts were replaced along with all new hardware. The glass is new. the weatherstrip in new. the tail lights are new. as are the marker lights. turn signals. headlight bezels. and all the trim. The door glass regulators were rebuilt with new rollers and all the window channels. fuzzies and gaskets are new.

The interior is almost totally new. featuring a new dash pad. carpet. headliner. door panels. arm rests. door sills and seat covers.

At this point the car is a great driver still needing some work. This work includes:

1. It needs new A/C hoses and a clutch for the compressor. The system will need to be charged as well.
2. The dome light needs to be installed. the new light is included.
3. The beltline trim needs installed. it is also included in the sale.
4. The side view mirrors need to be installed. they have been stripped and need to be painted. They are also included along with new glass and gaskets.
5. The clock and radio are not functioning.
6. The passenger side door lock knob and ferrule are missing. I don't have them.
7. The sun visors need to be recovered. they are included along with the new headliner material.
8. The original SS Steering wheel has some cracks in it and should be replaced or redone

Most notably. the final paint job was not done well. I would say it is a 7. 5 out of 10. After all the work that was done to restore this car it seems that the builder ran out of money or patience or both. There is dirt in the clear. there are some chips in the paint and the stripes were not done correctly. the passenger side stripe on the hood does not line up with the stripe on the nose. If I were to do the work. I would scuff the entire car with 1500 grit paper and re-shoot the whole thing again. It may be possible to do spot work and save it but that's not how I would do it.

If you are looking for a very nice driver that is done right this car is ready to go with only minor finishing work required. If you are looking for a show quality car it will need a repaint or paint repair at least. In any case this car represents an excellent value for the money and could not be duplicated for less than $50k. even with the mediocre paint job. If you are interested in a collector car you can make money off this is an outstanding opportunity. Split bumper Camaros of this quality are bringing $35-40K right now and will bring more in a year. The only two 1970 Camaros for sale at the big auction in Scottsdale last weekend sold for $75k and $79k respectively. I welcome international bidders and I will deliver this car to the freight forwared of your choice in the Los Angeles area for a $100 flat fee.

I encourage inspection of the car in person. you will not be disappointed. Please feel free to contact me at 626-804-3780 to arrange an appointment or to answer any questions. Thanks and happy bidding!
