Hi. this listing is for a 1954 Hudson Wasp 2 door Sedan with a two tone burgundy & cream exterior.   Like many of you I got into Hudsons because of my Dad. We bought on ebay about 12 years ago to run the  American Road with my family.  At one time we had 8+ Hudson cars from this period in order to have chrome. engines. parts etc. This is one of two remaining complete cars and my personal vehicle. Unfortunately we lost my Dad two years ago and we just can't see doing the road trip down Route 66 without him. Our loss is your gain.
HISTORY: I am the 4th owner of this car. It originally came out of Virginia and I have the original title with the car. The car was said to be a "Moonshine" runner and I can imagine that it would be fun to trace the vehicle's complete history (but running my machine shop I simply don't have the time). The car then went to Michigan and was repainted sometime in the late 70's-early 80's. That owner past away and his widow sold it to the man that I purchased it from. In a statement from the HUDSON ESSEX TERRAPLANE club website in 2002 they stated that there were as few as 30 of these 2 door Sedans built in 1954 and ONLY 7 EXIST today. I have a copy of this statement.   This Sedan is one of those 7 remaining.
THE BAD FIRST!  When I bought this it was said to be in "show condition".  This was not the case. After I drove 700 miles to pick it up I found it to be full of bondo and lead. However. I felt obligated to buy it anyways and brought it home to our shop.  At that time we had a body shop where my Dad and I removed all the rusted metal on the outside and replaced it with new hand fabricated steel. We only repainted the cream portion due to time and the burgundy was still decent at the time.  The car is solid underneath there is no rust and only 1 new rear floorboard was installed on the passengers rear.   The car was bought to be a driver and I didn't make it perfect.  The burgundy is starting to flake and peal and there is a ding in the cream on the passengers side door. The interior is good but the burgundy velour-type fabric on the seats by the window is faded (it was that way when I bought it because the previous owner passed away and it was pushed outside for a while).   The headliner is original but needs to be replaced. The cork clutch is currently slipping (but can be replaced before the sale).
THE GOOD:  We are an established. respected engine machine shop that specializes in high performance and specialty restoration engines. We built it as a period correct Moonshine Runner because there was talk that it was due to its origins in Virginia (and a hidden mechanical trunk release. panel in the trunk itself. and the trunk is frenched so it isn't opened by "others"). As I said before. it could be very interesting to find out "the rest of the story"! I rebuilt a 1954 Hudson 308 to the 7x nascar specs.  The motor is Balanced and Blueprinted and has . 030 pistons. and big stainless steel valves. The block has a mild port job with a 5/16 relief just like Smokey Unick used. Schneider Racing Cam. New Tappets. Twin H Carbs and Manifold. Duel Points. Custom Headers and 3" exhaust. aluminum Super Power Dome head. All ARP studs and Bolts( Rods. Mains. Head). Custom Double Roller Timing Chain.   The Transmission was switched from it's standard 3 speed to 3 speed OVERDRIVE. and has a 4. 10:1 rear gear.  The tires are big Firestone bias whitewalls 8. 10-15 and when the clutch is good they will fry.  The  Brakes were switched out front & rear to the bigger Hornet Brakes for faster performance driving. I completely went through the driveline from front to rear.  The car has about 1000 miles on it since it was finished. I've had it in parades and cruised around with my family in it and it ALWAYS turns heads!  Currently this is NOT a big circuit show car (but it would make a uniquely patriotic statement if you can verify it's history!). If you want to do parades. smaller shows & cruises with your car club then this head-turner & conversation piece is worth a serious consideration.
EXTRAS: I will be completely honest with you because neither you or I have time to waste. There was ALOT of time & money spent on this car to complete it to cruise Rt. 66 with my Dad in his Hudson (see my other auction) because we wanted to enjoy our family trip and not spend it on the side of the road! I still have the numbers matching 232ci engine & 3 speed transmission. front side-window vents. a sun visor that will go with the car for the BUY IT NOW price. Please read the listing carefully and call us with any questions BEFORE bidding.   We still have lots of parts and pieces for Hudson Stepdowns.  ***We reserve the right to end this auction early as this vehicle is for sale locally. *** Contact me with any questions at Pasko's Racing.
