1993 MINI British Open Classic - concours, nut & bolt restoration, stunning

Sale price: £6,995.00 make an offer

Car location: South Molton, Devon, United Kingdom

Seller's notes: Spotless inside, out and underneath. Over £5,000 spent on parts alone, plus 800+ hours labour to rebuild this limited edition classic MINI to "as new" condition. I could find only two minor flaws - bulkhead insulation pad slightly worn, and a small split to stitching on nearside rear wheel arch interior trim covering. A beautiful classic MINI that is a potential show winner.

1993 MINI British Open Classic in stunning condition. This car has been the subject of a comprehensive restoration over the last 18 months and is presented as effectively a new vehicle. The nut and bolt restoration has been carried out by the car's owner and well established Mini specialist Des Hawkins of Newport. The MINI British Open Classic was a limited edition of 1. 00 cars built in 1992 and 1993. all in British Racing Green. featuring a full length electrically operated Webasto sunroof. Minilite alloy wheels. body coloured door mirrors and chrome bumpers. grille. door handles. and opening rear windows. Less than 250 of these limited edition cars are still in use. and this example must be the very best of the remaining cars.
Undertaken in 2012 and early 2013. the restoration has covered every single element of the car. including:
- Engine and gearbox completely rebuilt using genuine parts. Highly detailed engine bay- All new engine ancillaries - radiator. alternator. brake servo. master cylinders. filters. carburettor. breathers- All new running gear. including front and rear subframes. suspension. driveshafts. hubs. brakes. bushes. brackets. brake and fuel lines. rubbers. hoses. bearings. cables. linkages. nuts. bolts and all fasteners- Bare metal respray of the entire body shell inside. out and underneath. in correct BLVC 617 paint- New exhaust system and fuel tank- All new stainless steel bumpers. lights. brightwork. body trim. handles and correct coachlines and decals- Retrimmed seats in cream with green piping. new black carpets. original walnut dash in perfect condition- New full length electric Webasto sunroof. new headlining- Perfect Minilite alloy wheels shod with period correct Pirelli Cinturato tyres
So what we have now is basically a brand new. 20 year old classic Mini that drives perfectly. looks incredible and if kept in this condition. will continue to appreciate as almost certainly the best example of the MINI British Open Classic in existence.
You do get a load of hyperbole and superlatives whenever a decent example of a classic car comes up for sale. and often these statements have to be taken with a pinch of salt. Not in this case. and to help with this. I've taken over 140 images of every aspect of the car. available to view on my Flickr site here
