1962 Chevrolet Biscayne

 

 

History

 

The Chevrolet Biscayne was a series of automobiles produced by General Motors. under the Chevrolet brand between 1958 until 1972. It was named after a show car displayed at the 1955 General Motors Motorama. Biscaynes were produced primarily for the fleet market. though they were also available to the general public. particularly to those who wanted low-cost. nbsp;no-frills transportation with the convenience. room and power of a full-size automobile.

 

Like the slightly upscale Bel Air. Biscaynes were easily identified by the use of two taillights per side; the only exceptions to this were in 1959 and 1972. Most Biscaynes were sold with a six-cylinder engine through the late 1960’s. however customers could purchase a Biscayne with any of Chevrolet's high-output big-block V8 engines and performance-oriented transmissions. including the floor-mounted 4-speed manual transmission with Hurst shifter.

The previous owner of this beautiful Biscayne was a car collector from Akron. Ohio. As a young man. he was fascinated with two vehicles at the race track; the Hemi Cuda and the 409 Biscayne. After he returned from Vietnam. his dream was to own one of those dream cars. He purchased this 409 Biscayne. “as-is” from a man in Pennsylvania who had frame-off restored the car in 2010. This car was produced at GM’s Atlanta Georgia assembly plant. and was originally a black 6 cylinder. As his wife got sick he decided to slowly sell his collection. and this vehicle was the last one left.

 

Documentation for this Biscayne includes a reproduction 1962 Chevrolet Passenger Car Owners Guide. an owner history that dates to 1988. a cam card. a stack of restoration receipts. miscellaneous manuals for aftermarket parts. Dupont paint codes. and stickers.
