1963 (late) MG Midget "GAN2" Midget series "1.5" FOR SALE!

Sale price: $1,025.00 make an offer

Seller's notes: "VERY rare late 1963 (title 1964) GAN2 series MG Midget for sale. Requires complete restoration, but worth it due to it's rarity. Only 9601 GAN2 MG Midgets were built - for WORLD WIDE delivery. It is estimated by the MGCC that fewer than 10% of these cars built still exist, and per the British Motor Heritage Certificate (which will go with the car), this particular car was built in LHD from for delivery new in France - NOT North America. Consequently, it has the VERY rare Smiths KPH speedo, along with centigrade engine temp and centimeters squared oil pressure gauge. It was also factory delivered with wire wheels (fewer than 15% of all GAN2 cars were so delivered), heater and radio and whitewall tires. The car requires COMPLETE restoration. It does have solid floors, solid trunk pan, and is in reasonable structural condition, but is will require sill work, floor work and a new battery tray panel - all of which are available from Moss Motors: www.mossmotors.com Inspection Welcomed."

This is a very car. with very few surviving. and deserves (and needs) a complete restoration. It will require minor floor pan work. but needs sills and a battery tray at a minimum. All these parts are available from Moss Motors at surprisingly reasonable cost. Visit: www. mossmotors. com . This is a GAN2 prefix MG Midget. featuring the old style non-roll-up windows with side-screens and a completely removeable convertible top and frame and easily removable windscreen for competition - a TRUE roadster. not a "convertible". Generally. the side screen cars are very desirable. Many were cannibalized to restore Bugeye Sprites years ago as they share doors and mechanical components. Hence. the MKI and Mk "1. 5" Midgets are seldom found in ANY condition. This particular car was factory ordered for delivery in France. as reported to me by the British Motor Heritage Trust. and is still in the as-delivered color scheme of red on red. There is honest rust. with very little to zero filler - so what you see is what you get. but it DOES NEED RESTORATION. It originally would have had a red convertible top as well. making for a stunning car when new - and once restored. It was also ORIGINALLY delivered with wire wheels fitted to this first-year available DISC braked car. It still wears the original wheels - this is not a retro-fit. All the ultra-rare METRIC Smiths gauges are still with the car. This car includes TWO engines. an incorrectly installed (but getting rare) 948cc engine. and a correct 1098 "CC" series 2" main bearing engine - which is much more durable than the earlier 1098 smaller-bearing engine. NEITHER ENGINE IS CURRENTLY INSTALLED. however they sitting just adjacent to the car. This car includes the gearbox (still in the car). and I have another (correct) "rib-case" transmission in good condition available at $125 for anyone interested and who buys the car. I would really like to see this car restored by someone and not parted out. IT IS 100% complete except for missing the chrome. thin bonnet strip - which regularly appear on Ebay. ORIGINAL seats are in the car. door panels on. etc. Original radio is missing with a larger than normal cut-out in the dash/fascia - but these are flat steel dashes that get upholstered in vinyl. nbsp;so that is easily rectified. All instruments and switches present. The BMIHT history/build certificate will be supplied to the winning bidder - a $120 cost to get it on your own.

It is estimated that fewer than 10% of the total production of only 9601 GAN2 cars still exist. and fewer than 20% of these cars are thought to have been made with wire wheels as originally fitted by the Abingdon. England factory. Additionally. I have build data suggesting this may be the one and only "1963" build date car delivered new in France out of the complete. total production. How many of those handful of remaining cars world-wide were red on red with wire wheels. nbsp;heater and radio and white walls? I have no reserve. and a starting bid/price set so someone buys it and restores it. It won't cost a fortune to restore if you do any of the work yourself. and if I were not travelling so much for work and had the time. I would do it myself. I encourage questions. phone calls and personal inspection. I can arrange to have the car viewable in person any time of the week if you give enough notice. I want you to know what you are getting into. and I don't want any regret for either of us. I can be reached at (815) 788 1763. however I am frequently travelling. I WILL RESPOND TO ALL CALLS AND EMAILS AS SOON AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE. I am a member of quite a few MG and other car clubs and this car MAY BE SOLD OUTSIDE OF EBAY at any moment. but I will honor any commitment to buy from any Ebay member who is serious about saving this car. Thank you. Tom.
