REO Flying Cloud

I bought this 1928 REO Flying Cloud in December of 2006. It had been in storage for 50 years. It had a beautiful Lacquer paint job. It was put in a sea tight container in 1956. The body and interior of the car were in mint condition. The under carriage was caked with Grease and dirt. The brake parts were worn out. and the engine had not run in 50 years. Upon purchasing the REO Car. I removed the body to get to the chassis ( see pictures ) I disassembled the whole Chassis. I had it Sandblasted and powdered coated ( Baked in a commercial oven ) for 8 hrs. Everything that was connected to the chassis was redone. This includes the entire brake system. All new brake lines. brake drums. and shoes. steel and rubber hoses. Wheel cylinders. and master cylinder were bored out and stainless steel sleeve was installed and all rebuilt new. All ball bearings in wheels. rear end. and transmission were replaced. Plus all new seals. The 6 Cylinder engine was 100% rebuilt! Bored to . 060 OS. All parts were made by (EGGE) of California. The rebuilt engine has 325 miles on it. The whole car was rewired and upgraded. I had an Overdrive unit built for the REO to obtain top speed of 65 MPH. The overdrive works by just pushing a button. It will come out of overdrive by touching the clutch pedal. and will return to 3rd gear.  The engine and all units Generator. Starter. Carburetor were rebuilt as new. A 6 volt electric pump was installed just in case you run out of Gas. Thus to help pick up the gas quick to vacuum tank. It has spring loaded switch. will only work while you press switch. In 1928. Chrome had not come out yet. so everything was re-nickle plated. Hub caps had to be made out of 8' aluminum stock bar and plated and painted. Fuel pumps were not out in 1928. In place of fuel pumps they used vacuum tanks. These were also rebuilt. A 1952 overdrive was built into the 1928 REO chassis behind the transmission. and a late model drive shaft was installed. All 6 wire spoke wheels were sand blasted and powdered coated in yellow. 6 brand new tires 700x18 ( Lester Tires ) were mounted. 2 Headlights. 2 taillights. 2 parking lights were re-nickle plated. Brand New old stock Head light Lenses were installed. Light are nice and bright. I had two front fenders made and modified to accommodate the two spare tires. Interior of the car I had 2 pieces of the dash. all of the window frames (7)  and the door panels (6) done in Rosewood. The steering column and floor gear shift lever. and hand brake Re- nickle plated. All the window winders and door handles had to be custom made in Australia. The REO has new rubber top and headliner. All the seats and door panels are original ( Mohair ) All windows were replaced with safety Glass. All window winders were rebuilt. REO has hot water heater. The original Radio is not installed. but does come with the car. The REO has a beautiful Traveling trunk mounted on rear. and has all modern day turn signals. Running boards made out of Hard Ash wood and rubber matting. The car was painted with 1956 Laker Automotive paint. Burgundy and Black. All new rubber. 4 springs and bushings. and Motor mounts. ( by Steel and Co. ) Restoration was 100 % complete in July. 2013. Road test completed in Geneva Ny. Also available but NOT included in this auction is a 2008  25 FT   GVW  7600. Car trailer. has 6000 lb planetary 12 V remote wench. 2 spare tires. fully carpeted with side door. Trailer has a total of  2500 miles on it. axles are Tandem and made by Car Mate.
