1953 - 63. 84 Packard Clippers were built and only 3672 Sportster 2-door Sedans. the most expensive model at $2805. This Packard has been restored and all parts are factory correct. Two owner vehicle; the first owner sold it when
he was 95. twenty years ago and the second owner was 85. Vehicle runs and drives great.
The Packard Clipper Sportster was the nicest of the Clippers. with more trim and flashy two-tone color combinations. This particular Clipper has just two previous owners since new and has a recent restoration although the car was already in excellent condition with incredibly low original miles. For fans of late Packards. this is a highly unusual find. and thanks to its impressive condition. will be a delight to own and show for years to come.

Replacing the Clipper business coupe. which had been missing from the Packard lineup since 1951. the Sportster was technically a 2-door sedan. and not a hardtop. but most folks would be hard-pressed to spot the difference. It's finished in Topeka Tan with a Matador Maroon Metallic roof. one of the best looking combinations of this model. As a low-mileage original desert car. the body had no rust and needed very little work prior to applying this spectacular paint job. There are probably few nicer Clipper Sportsters in the world with this stunning paint and interior combination. The Sportster also received some additional chrome trim. including vestigial chrome fins mounted to the rear quarters. as well as the simple stainless trim that accentuates the car's length. Up front. the traditional Packard arched grille shape comes through loud and clear. No expense was spared to refinish all the brightwork on this car.

The interior has been completely reupholstered in period correct black and white interior typically available as part of the "Deluxe" option. The wide bench is comfortable and roomy while offering a Packard Quality ride and view of the road ahead. A trio of gauges is mounted in their own pod ahead of the steering wheel and they're completely functional. The AM radio is mounted in the factory location with a speaker below. New matching carpet and a new black headliner finish off this exceptionally done interior.

The Sportster received Packard's 288 cubic inch straight-8 which was rated at an ample 150 smooth running horsepower. Typical of a Packard. the engine is smooth and plenty of torque. The 3 speed manual transmission shifts effortlessly through the gears from the column located shifter. The chassis is original solid. with vintage undercoating on the floors. New shocks. brakes. and exhaust system keep this car absorbing any bump on the road. adequately stopping. and a quiet yet deep throaty sound coming out of the tail pipe. Period correct white wall rubber keeping you rolling down the road without hassle.
