1989 FORD FIESTA XR2 RED

I bought this car in April 2013 but have recently bought a Mk2 Escort therefor I am now putting this car up for auction due to storage space becoming an issue. I bought the car from a chap from Lincoln who did all the work and made the car what it is today; a fantastic example. I have never seen one of these is such condition apart from when they were new. The car is currently on loan at a local Ford dealership where it's had lots of attention and looks great in the showroom next to the new Fiesta Zetec S. I am very reluctant to sell this as I know I won't find another like it. As you can see its only done 441miles since Feb last year.
Below is the information which I got from the previous owner explaining what had been done to the car.


 I bought this XR2 in May 2011 as a restoration/recommission project. I knew the owner. and that it and been dry stored for fourteen and a half years due to his illness and the loss of his driving licence. It's last MOT was dated October 1996 at 41030 recorded miles. After a further year in my garage it was MOT'd on 04/05/2012 at 41201 miles. Recorded miles in Feb 2013 are 42027. So just 1000 miles in the last 16 plus years. The car was built in November 1988 and registered in Feb 1989. Cost on delivery was £8852 plus optional extras fitted: sunroof and driving lamps. It certainly is one of the last MK2 to be built and is amongst a very small group of totally original specification MK2s somewhere between condition 1 and concours.  
New components/part fitted include:
Radiator. thermostat. heater radiator. auto chocke assy. valve stem seals. oil breather. water pump. cam belt and alternator belt. Carburettor serviced with weber kit. Radius arm bushes. inner TCA bushes. TR ends. Hubb lower swivels. rear ARB bushes. rear shockers. front struts. rat Hubb bearings. new gel tank and sender gasket. New break MC. EBC callipers. grooved discs. green stuffed pads. new rear drums. rear slave cylinders and hues plus hand break cable. Set of Goodridge SS hoses. new rear riggid  break pipes. 'p' clips as necessary. new transmission mounts. new battery and rear windscreen. new wiper blades. radio arial. oil/air filters. plugs. number plates. 5 x Yokohama A539s and  new wheel trims as required.  
Work Includes: 
All wheels blasted and refinished. All under body components removed. Under body from front bulk head to rear valance. stripped. surface treated where necessary with genolite and refinished with hammerite red oxide followed by two coats if hammerite black smooth.  All suspension parts and rear break back plates blasted and finished in chassis black. Engine bay detailing. Rocker cover oil trap removed. cleaned and rewelded. new gasket. Rocker and air filter refinished. Coolant system flushed clean. header tank. all hoses and washer bottle cleaned. OE Ford exhaust refinished in high temp paint. Arches scrubbed and refinished as necessary. Front riggid break pipes cleaned and all pipes refinished in green as original. Rear sections of petrol and breather pipes blasted. zinc plated and heat shrinked for protection. All plastic body trims removed. refinished with autoglym bumper gel and refitted after professional (glass removed) refinish in radiant red with new orange decals and 6mm body lines. Front wheel alignment carried out. HPI checked.
Fine examples of the XR2 are becoming very collectable and will appreciate in value. They are also fun to drive. This one was worth saving as it was an original and unmolested example. It drives like new. feels tight with no rattles and handles very well. It would suit a collector or be suitable as a show car. or for concourse competitions.  
As you can see from the description above this is a one off.
